My dad and I want to get a new mustang, and we like the new 5.0 but my dad saw the V6 club of America mustang or sporty one .
What would be worth the money?

IMO ur buying a American muscle car naturally a GT is the way to go. I would not buy a v6 just not enough power. But that's just my personal opinion.

If you want an enthusiast car the 5.0 is the way to go. You can pick up a used one for new v6 money already too.

Def 5.0! Just not 08 auto Coz if u ever want to do anything more that a cold air intake, ull have to upgrade ur transmittion. In fact, get a manual; trust me, you'll regret getting an auto later on. Oh and word is 2012 are blowing #8 cylinder.

I have only heard of one 2012 that had this problem and bama is covering his engine replacement! Only a hand full of cars out of thousands sold had this problem and it was because they tuned the cars very aggressively.

Never seen a problem with the auto trans s197 GT cars unless they had huge mods and I've only seen 2011 5.0s with #8 failures. Only 2012 car.is that guy on here recently (same guy on other sites too) he tuned it and had a nitrous kit on it. He claims he didn't use it but lets be honest. If you've got nitrous, you use nitrous.

Im pretty sure that he said didn't install the nitrous from what I remember.. His dealer just told him it was ok if he wanted to.. He just had a tune I believe... From what he says anyway..

Omg no dont even go there u 2 i dont want to get sucked into that circle of doom again!

Id personally go with the gt over the v6 i dont have anything against the v6 its great fuel econamy is good and 300+ hp so very respectible. Its the sound the 5.0 just has to be the best sounding engine ever really makes u feel excited to drive it makes u want to keep it clean and take owner ship and be proud of it.

A bit of advice sit in them drive them tell the sales men to shut his mouth and listen to them. What ever one talks to u is the right one. Dont settle for any gt or v6 or shelby or boss or anything it has to be the one and ull all ways love it!

Re: Opinion

Why is it that 1-15 people have an issue with a Transmission or an engine and its gets pushed around the web and onto every forum and before you know it the Mustang is a worthless piece of crapola because ALL the Transmission break and engines blow because of #8? Ford produced over 74000 Mustangs last year and only a VERY small handful had any issues. Hell seems like 1 out of every 10 Ferraris ends up burning on the side of the road due to engine fires....... guess Ferraris are crapola too.

Sorry about the rant........ never buy what you think you may regret at a later date.... because you will. Spend the few extra dollars and get the V8. No regrets and never look back!!!

depends on what you will use the car for and your needs... does gas mileage or payment etc matter?

If your father is concerned about the look of the mustang and is infatuated by the MCA, I'd suggest mentioning the GT/CS to him. It's a wonderful looking package (in my biased opinion, haha) and it comes with the 5.0! Best of both worlds!

Think of it like this...

If you get the v6 you might regret it down the road.

If you get the GT you won't regret it at all.

Problem solved

Re: Opinion

Agreed with all the non-chicken-little posts here. The new 5.0 is probably the best mass produced V8 Ford has ever made. I've had my share of old musclecars and 5.0s and this thing anhialates all of them, unless heavily modified into unstreetable monsters. All this with a porky 3600+ pounds of curb and a full warranty.

Go with the GT, and there is nothing wrong with an Automatic at all.

That's true, nothing wrong with an automatic. That's what I have, but sometimes I wish it were manual. I want both really.

Same here. I love my manual but sometimes it would be nice to have the ability to switch to automatic. In not sure how it could be done. I'm a studying mechanical engineer and one of the things I want to investigate is making an auto with a clutch pedal(that's at least what I call it). The best way I'm thinking is a quick disconnect trans. Either way it would be cool if it worked.
On an aside, how about the 7 speed manual put out by Porsche. A little excessive if you ask me.

Re: Opinion

Like the others said go with the 5.0 you will have no regrets regardless of the type of transmission.
412 crank hp > 305 crank hp
v8 exhaust sound > v6 sound
V8 resale value > v6 resale value
Winning > Losing

yes 7 speed? thats a bit too much lol
if im not mistaken there is a mod you can do to an automatic transmission and i cant remember what its called, but it is a shifter that you manually shift in order from 1st to 4th or 5th. i was reading an article where this one guy who had that would program his shift points to be a few RPMs late just in case he didnt shift it himself. many super cars with that flappy paddle on the steering wheel have a manual and automatic mode. that would be interesting, though, to be able to switch between full auto and full manual.

What he said^^. Go big or go home! Youre going to want a gt later on aways so might as well spend the extra money for it now.

While the V6 is a great car, I chose the 5.0 because the difference in MPG, sound, and performance was not worth the relatively small amount of money saved. However, also calculate in insurance as it is higher especially if you are young. You won't regret the 5.0, but every time you floor the V6 you'll think to yourself: "I should've had a V8".

Once u drive a coyote you will absolutly love it. To be honest with you i just orderd mine without even test driving it, I didnt care if it was comfortable or even good on gass. I just wanted the 5.0 cause growing up the i always wanted a mustang foxbody 5.0. The 5.0 just dominates, stock or modified its an incredible machine. The v6 is nice but i will always stick by this....when you by a stang its gotta be a v8 and its gotta be stick
