55D springs

"My problem": Less than attractive fender gap at the rear of 2012 Mustang, even with 19" Brembo wheels.

"My requirements": factory ride quality, no additional parts required, no handling deficits.

"My hopeful solution": Bought 55D rear spring kit from Brembo 5.0.

I will report results when I receive the springs and install them. This will be as honest an appraisal of the product as I can possibly make it, given the large amount of subjective input that's inevitable.

What all are you buying to do it properly? Looking at doing this still too. How much drop? How much total cost?

Re: 55D springs

I'll let the bumf speak for itself here:

Brembo50.com - 55D Spring Kit

This is rear springs only and the small drop makes nothing else necessary.

Re: 55D springs

Springs are in...I like an easy job. drop the swaybar, drop the shock bottom, hang the rear end and pop 'em in.

Ride is not detectably different than stock, so far but, it has levelled the car out so the gap is the same. So it meets the requirments so far for appearance and ride. I'll try to test out the handling later. I don't expect any revelations here, as it's just a little drop and a slight spring rate increase to compensate.

Re: 55D springs

here ya go...gloomy February around here.

As you can see, it levels the car front to back, with an appealing improvement, visually at least to my eye.

it also mildly reduced the severity of the wheelhop but, the relocation brackets I have downstairs will be required to do a proper job on that.

Re: 55D springs

Ummm, if I wanted to lower it I would have lowered it using a full set of LOWERING springs. I won't lower a car in this shell-hole cratered road network I have around here. I just wanted to level it out front to back. Before, it looked like one of those minivan disability taxis with the lift for the mobility scooter on the back.

Please re-read the first post in this thread for a review of my intentions and reasons.

Re: 55D springs

You really do like to purposely misinterpret just for the sake of fighting, don't you? You're aware that's obvious, right?

You called it "lowered", I didn't. I said it levelled the car, front to back. That's all I wanted.

Good work then! The car looks great, by the way.

Re: 55D springs

We just received our 2nd batch of the 55D springs on March 2, 2012 and already have sold 50% of our stock in a week. The response and feedback has been very satisfying for me to know that it works.

The good news is that this kit has now been tested on several non-brembo mustangs (SN-10) and they work the same. They drop the rear 1/2" and levels the look of the car to be more visual appealing. Many customers have told us it's the best buck twenty they have every spent.

The car looks perfect to my eye. Nice job.
