LT Headers and O/R X-pipe

What kinda gains would I expect to with with cold air, tune, LTs and an o/r x-pipe?

Are the gains with headers sufficent enough to spend $700 on headers or just get an o/r pipe that bolts up the the factory manifold?

AM has BBK Long tubes on sale right now for 589 i believe. About the hp gains i browsed around the web and seen different info so you might want to search the brand you're looking for. I'm sure someone has it with dyno numbers but from what i read the gains are substantial.

Ball park figures LT's should gain about 20whp and o/r x pipe around 20-25whp the cold air will not do much maybe 4-5 whp over the stock box. It's really hard to say mods complement each other for gains. The tune is the best bang for the buck netting around 35+ whp depending on tune u run the gains can be lower. Those mods should put you somewhere between 430 to 455 whp every car is different. This is just to give u a far idea of what to expect.

My next question is what type of gains would one expect to see if I just kept the
Factory exhaust manifold and got an o/r x pipe.

Around 20 wrhp with just an offroad x. You can also get one super cheap ($250 or less if you have a discount code from another forum) from UPR.

If have to have cats for inspection just buy the catted one and gut them. Then it looks like have them and you don't have to waste money on both. Nor do you have to swap out.

The stainless works Combo has inserts that can be swaped. Straight pipe for o/r and HF cats inserts.

If you buy the catted one how do you gut it? Cut it at the cat and remove everything inside? I have no clue what the inside of a cat looks like. Never done that before.

I really big pinch bar and hammer is how we did mine. No cutting it. You can see inside of cats. Put pinch bar in and hit with hammer till you break everything up. The bbk ones was a pain in the butt. But it got done.

Re: LT Headers and O/R X-pipe

Never tried this but I've been told that you can put cats in the freezer and then throw em on a hard surface and the honeycomb inside will shatter. One time my brother had the mufflers cut off his truck. He ran it and got the cats really hot, shut it off then stuck a water hose up the pipe and the cold water broke apart the inside of the cats. Then started it up and blew the broken pieces out the tail pipe.
