Leather for cloth seats. Fair deal?

So I just ordered some Corbeau CR1's. I was going to sell my stock seats but since I have to take off all the wiring off in order to keep SRS working properly that's not an option.

So now I want to trade my leather seats for cloth seats, both front and rear. That way I can use the the wiring off the cloth instead of leather.

So in addition to the swap what premium should I charge? I was thinking $500

Re: Leather for cloth seats. Fair deal?

it depends on the condition of the seats. For the 2010+ GT's they would probably bring 1000 a set if they are really nice, maybe 800 on a bad day.

For a set of cloth I think 500 dollars and the cloth seats for the leather is a fair price to pay

Re: Leather for cloth seats. Fair deal?

What wiring do you need to remove from the seats? I'll be keeping an eye on this since I'll probably be doing something similar. $1000 is a number I had thrown around when talking to a few people about selling the seats and nobody seemed to think that was insanely high.

Re: Leather for cloth seats. Fair deal?

you also might could go to a junk yard and find seats that have been damaged and are not worth much and buy those get the parts you need and junk the rest... then sell your leather seats and pocket more~ etc

The proximity sensor for both seats which adjust the force the bags come out. The side airbag sensor and passenger bladder and sensor to detect weight.

Good point, I might even see how much the individual parts are from ford.

I would just take those parts out and sell the seats as-is noting that you would need those parts if installing into a '10+ mustang. Still should be worth about $1000 IMO.

It may be easier just to buy the parts from Ford as well, starting with new instead of trying to rip the old ones out and cannibalizing them. I'll check with a parts guy I know

PS - there's a convo at S197 about this same subject. I'll post the link but if it gets nuked by an adming (not sure if Im allowed to do that here) I'll PM it to anyone who needs it.

edit: I just noticed that you started that one too ... lol

Yea, that's my thread as well The thing is that I want a set of seats as well just in case for some reason I need to sell or trade the car. I guess I can always just get them at that point. I'll price out the parts alone.

If you get part numbers let me know. I have a friend who works in parts at a local dealership looking into it, but he is having to ask around since his system wasn't really able to tell him what I needed.

Re: Leather for cloth seats. Fair deal?

Stock seats are RIDONKULOUSLY expensive from Ford and won't give you a good idea of market value used. Sheeyat, they wanted over $1000 per seat to replace the stolen GT seats in my friends '90 hatch, back then!

That's insane, but seats as whole are expensive. Even the aftermarket leather seat COVERS are $600+ on ebay! At that kinda price, $1000 for seats, covers and airbags is a steal...

If I could sell my stockers for 1k that would cover about 90% of my new seats

Yup ... this was the same thing I was thinking when looking at seats. I would actually be even or in the green, I want the FX1s (fixed back seats).

Corbeau FX1 Pro Mustang Racing Seat - Black (79-12 All) 29501P - Free Shipping!

I like the CR1s but the price is a bit more than I want to spend honestly. I'm also not convinced that you get as much lateral support from them as the FX1s. I like the Recaro Speeds as well but they are expensive and don't have the hole for a 5-point harness.

The FX are nice, I'm not doing the 5th slot. When and if I get that serious I'll add fixed back.

I prefer not to buy things twice... Different strokes though, I suppose.

Now you have me second guessing my not getting the fifth slot. I may call now and add it.

Don't the CR1s have the fifth slot?

I know, I meant about adding the 5th slot. Which I just did. Called the vendor and updated my order. An extra 35 per seat.

I don't understand. Did you have to order a different seat or did you have 4 point harnesses ordered?

I ordered the 3 point retractible harness. The 5th slot is just added, it won't be used but like you said. If and when I decide to go to a 5 point I won't have to change seats.

I'm still lost, is the fifth slot added to the seat? Where did you order from? The vendors that I have been looking at dont seem to specify whether or not it's a 3/4 or 3/4/5 slot seat.

The Corbeaus come with out one but they can add it for $35. I got it from TPS Motorsports. AM only carries cloth. The seat can be used with a 3 or 4 point harness when the 5th slot is added a 5 point can be used.

So the ones that AM only support 4 point harnesses? I don't see an option to add the submarine slot, but their site says "harness pass through" which could mean anything. I'll have to call them and check before I order them...

Yea, whatever is on their site is all they offer. Chris tried to see if they could drop ship my order but they could not. By pass through I think they mean the shoulder straps.
