New 5.0!

So I finally got myself a new mustang. Been dreaming about getting one since I heard ford was bringing back the 5.0.

I've been thinking about mods and I'm kind of worried about voiding my warranty but also looking for the best bang for my buck. Ideas? suggestions?

Welcome to the site!
The guts with the newer cars can point you in the right direction for mods.. I do know that most any mod will cause warranty issues.

Congrats...best bang for your buck is going to be a tune, but it will void your warranty...pretty much anything you do that improves HP is going to void it, because most additions will require the tune to maximize it...

Congrats man. About the only thing you can do and not void the warranty is exhaust. Just don't remove the cats. The offroad x and h pipes will remove the cats. So stay away from those. You could also probably do a drop in k&n filter.

Ford installed Supercharger will keep warranty. And will be best bang out there.

Congrats and welcome! As stated in previous posts, almost all power adders will void warranty. You can always do appearance mods, suspension, and exhaust.

Thanks for the input guys! What about the boss 302 manifold? Since it's a factory ford part it shouldn't void the warranty but it won't show much of a gain without a tune(which will void it)?

Ford uses a whipple supercharger. You can get them in a 525 hp or the 624 hp. Congrats on the new 5.0 and welcome.

Not sure if the part itself will void it (I think it will), but I doubt you will see any benefits without a tune.

To add to that Ford only warranty's the 525 hp supercharger; they do not warranty the 624 hp one which I think is ridiculous. Does anyone know if you get Ford's supercharger will it sound like the Termi Cobras with that supercharger whine? I love that!!

Whipples do have a whine to them. Most loud whine Termi's are not stock blowers though.

You are absolutely right. It will "run" but won't do much else with your check engine light becoming really pissed off

Thanks for all the input. I think after enjoying it and letting it break in I'll save up for the 525 hp supercharger. If I remember right the article I read said the 525 won't void your warranty and comes with it's own 12month/12000 mile warranty and the 624 hp doesn't have a warranty but neither of the kits will void any of the factory warranties.

Not sure if it's true, I would have to ask my dealer but that would be sweet.

The way I and most other understand that warranty is, yes it will void your warranty but the supplied parts will be warrantied for 1 year if installed by a Ford dealer.

I'd love to read their reasoning behind that actually. I can tell you when I started mine up without a tune it was SERIOUSLY pissed the **** off! It would hardly run and I was having to give it a lot of gas to keep it from stalling out ... and this was just sitting in neutral.

Who knows.. Every car acts different.. They said they put one on with out doing anything else to the car and it actually gained like 8 hp.. They don't go into detail about the install or anything though

Re: New 5.0!

Im going to have to agree with Napoleon85 on this, I don't believe that the Boss 302 manifold can be used without a tune. From all the research I have seen about this subject is needs the Tune.

Now correct me if I'm wrong but aren't the only gains from the Boss intake at 7,000+ rpms? I dont really care to beat the crap out of my engine for a minimal gain of ~40 hp @ 7,000 rpm. my .02

I'll try to find the article online I threw the mag away.. I could really care less I'm just lettin y'all know what the pros SAID in a magazine.. Don't get me wrong I'm not sayin anyone should or that it would be anything more than a prettier intake.. Just that according to them it works..
