Radar detectors?

Hey guys lookin to get a radar for the 5.0. Thinking go big or go home and get the passport 9500xi. It's $500.00. Best one on the market. Butttt I don't know if I should ever fully trust these things and for that much dough I want to be able to gun it where I want and know that this thing isn't gona let me down. Should I get a cheaper one and stay in the somewhat caution mentality or does anyone have any proof of reliability with these bad boys? Thanks guys

It's only going to pick up what's out there. Alot of cops around here rarely leave radar on. Mainly it's all point and shoot with the laser but some will still leave radar on. But the radius they leave it as most of the time, it's too late to react by then. Trust your instincts where to play and where not too. Even the most expensive equipment in the world will not always save you.

Pick up one that get srs (been awhile since i sold them so i think thats what its called) signals as well (emergance vehicel radar) not just the standerd point shoot pick up radar detectors. This will help let u know if ur crusin in a low gear or if u got ur tunes thumpin hard and cant hear the sirens long b4 there in sight found they are the most senative though so they can be a little anoying cruzin by malls (itll pick up automatic doors and stuff and freek u out) but when on open road nothin better.

A good radar detector will help but never let your guard down, there's nothing better than situational awareness and your eyes.

The 9500 is awesome. I have the same one. Saved my tail more than once. It has GPS that will help minimize false alarms. It is well worth the money. Just spend some time getting used to what all the chirps and warning are telling you before you go do something that will get you a ticket. And NEVER rely solly on the detector cause it will get you into trouble.

If you live in a area that uses that system where you can receive warnings from emergency vehicles, then go for the better ones!.. If not then it is a waste of cash!.. Radar detectors as a whole are pretty much a thing of the past, and do you little to no good!.. Your best defense for "playing around" is situational awareness!.. That and befriending a local cop or two helps some also!..
