GT Rear Badge Paint Attempt

Your thoughts, I'm a perfectionist or try to be, there is a little bleed of the yellow onto the black. Just give me your thoughts...worse case I black out the deck.

Looks good man. I even liked it all black. How difficult was the badge to remove?

A pain in the ***, it has to clips, I couldn't even tell you how those are removed and then 3M tape in the center. I taped around and just wedge a little crowbar in there and worked it until I could get my fingers in behind it and ripped it off. I messed up and didn't take the foam lining around the outer edges of the inside badge to keep it from moving around when on. If I remove the badge now it's not going back on. Be careful not to scratch around the badge as well otherwise you are going for a deck lid. LOL

And thanks.

Looks pretty damn good I dunno if its too much but the maybe the outside Ford shell in yellow would've looked pretty good too... nonetheless, it looks awesome the way it is now

Dang! I wanna do something custom with mine. I think I'll just do mine on the car without removing it. Sounds like it would be less trouble to just buy another trunk. Lol

It's not that hard.. Only takes a couple minutes.. Tape around the edges and use a plastic pry took or somethin similar and work ur way aroun the edge till you can get ahold of it.. The clips don't really do anything.. I left mine out actually..

I can take a pick of the rear badge I took off... there are four posts on the back, two go into holes the other two into fasteners and into larger holes, there is a piece of foam that goes around the edge of the badge and then there is a big round 3M tape on the back...pics below...

I used this link to help CDC Mustang Rear Decklid Panel (2010-2011+) - Installation Instructions at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping! - Free Shipping!

It looks like once you pop it out you can rotate it off the fasteners, not sure I just pulled on it.

I love it!
You did a great job, and my first thought was the Ford lettering as well, just take a hairline paintbrush and a steady hand to fill it in you shouldn't have to take it off.

Can't wait to see more!

Thanks Jet....LMAO...hell no, there is no way I could do that. I'd have to start all over again. LOL

Oh I did buy another badge off of Ebay and painted it and then took the one off the car.

LOL...that is the only thing holding mine on right now are the clips. When I took the old one off there was only maybe a tenth of 3M stuck to the trunk lid.

If you do 3m tape correctly it WILL NOT come off.. They used 3m tape on several street sings and stop signs down in new Orleans and whenever Katrina came through they were the only ones left... Bc the bolts just pulled through the metal and the tape had a larger surface.. I mess w this stuff everyday at work.. If its done right then good luck getting it off is all I gotta say lol
