Anyone bought an MGW Shifter?

I am about to buy a shifter and it looks like the best one out on the market is the MGW. Has anyone got it yet and could give me some feedback before I yank out this flimsy stock shifter? Thanks guys!

The mgw is the shirtest throw and has the greatest range.of adjustibility and different sized handles. That all said it can be a bit of a workout at times. The steeda tri ax is comprable and I find it a little more precise. Its my choice.

Sorry. I thought this was under a different set of years. I'm speaking from sn95 cars. Gl.

Re: Anyone bought an MGW Shifter?

All indications are....the MGW is the best one out there for 11+ period! It will be no doubt the one I buy.

Cool thanks! Yeah I've looked at every shifter and wanted something that came with the entire assembly. I don't see the point of replacing half a shifter. I hit gears hard and need something precise that will hold up!

Yeah I know what you mean I hit them hard too and when I first got my tri ax it was the best and then about 4 months its not as precise as it was so I'm getting the quality of the MGW!!!!

Re: Anyone bought an MGW Shifter?

I have the Barton short throw with the bracket. I'm happy with it and it also has a 40% reduction over the others 27%.

If I wasn't so impatient and could have waited I would probably have went with the MGW. With Either one I believe you will be happy, With the MGW you get the whole assembly but does cost just a little more.

Re: Anyone bought an MGW Shifter?

I have the MGW... Unfortunately for me, I have yet to install it on my ride! Looks like a very well thought out piece, though.

Re: Anyone bought an MGW Shifter?

Well finished the install..took about 2 hrs and that was with me stopping to answer the phone several times...As for how to...it is super easy...between the paper instructions and the videos online it is a cake walk...This shifter fixes the missing third issue I was having with the stock one too...Will drive it over the weekend and see what I think..

Re: Anyone bought an MGW Shifter?

I bought a after market shift knob from grabber pony ...if i by the MGW shifter, will my new shift knob work on it? Is the pattern for it to screw on still the same?

Re: Anyone bought an MGW Shifter?

you have two optiions with the mgw...they have a shaft for the stock shift knob and one for a aftermarker one...so you just pick the one you want....and the shifter is great...and my nvh isn't much more but I got the heat shield too....Although the most notiable difference is when I start the car..the starter is much louder but that is the only thing I really notice...but it is a great shifter for driving.

I have the steeda tri ax in right now but it just doesn't seem to hold up to my type of driving. I will be able to compare them after I install it but I'm not going to say anything until the MGW shifter has been in for awhile because the tri ax was great for about 4 months and then just feels sloppy so I'm hoping it doesn't happen with this shifter.

I hope so I put mine in Saturday over the steeda tri ax shifter so I hope it is better then the steeda! I have been looking into it and I am confident that the MGW shifter is the best so I hope I'm not wrong LOL

I got my shifter installed and I love it, wish I knew about MGW before I bought my steeda one, but the install was pretty easy took about 2 hours and that includes answering phone and text messages. I am very impressed, just hope it doesnt crap out like the steeda one did after 4 months!!!

I was gonna go with mgw. I caught the pro 50 on clearance at lms ,now I know why. It sux, really hard to hit 5 an rev. Other than that It's great. Don't settle for less than the best. Mgw's are pricey for a reason. Now I can add $240 to the price ( money I waisted ) of a mgw.

Yea I think most parts do the same thing, but when it comes to a shifter everyone has a personal preference and my tri ax was awesome at first then it got sloppy, I know why because when I removed it the blue seal was ripped and all the grease came out which is what happened the first time. I think the MGW will be better but only time will tell. I have been driving with it and it feels better but I might adjust the throw but it feels really smooth and crisp through the gears, so I would say happy customer for now unless something happens with it

Re: Anyone bought an MGW Shifter?

Have to wait three weeks before my shifter ships, can't wait till I can install it and run through the gears. Does anyone know how long the breakin period is?

I didn't know their was a break in period for the shifter, I haven't really hammered it hard though, but you will be happy with it, I just drove my car today and I couldn't be happier with how well it shifts into the gears!
