American Muscle Vinyl Stripe Help

I recently put some Matte Black Hood Accent decals on my Mustang (2012 5.0). It looks great nonetheless, but I am a stickler for detail. On the top edge, I have some slight waving developing. Perhaps I put them on tiny bit too high. Does anyone know of any tricks to make them go away? Perhaps light blow drying to shrink the vinyl a bit? Thanks for the help.
By the way, i am new to the forum... and I am reading the threads every chance I get. It is great.

It's dark outside so this is what I can get right now. I can add more pics tomorrow. I'm going to wash her up tomorrow. The close up shows the slight waves. As far as installation tips... If I were to do it again, I would leave a larger gap between the top of the stripe and the corner on the hood. I tried to line it up perfectly... Slight mistake. I wrapped the excess stripe around the back of the hood. I'm hesitant to putting a razor blade on the hood to trim it.

If you use a rubber squeegy and start from the center of the stripe and work your way to the outside it should help. But usually you want to get all the bubbles and waves out right after u put the vinyl on.

Worst comes to worst use a credit card wrapped with a paper towel to press it out if u don't have a squeegy.

And the Red and Black look sick! Beautiful car!

Thanks for the props. I'm debating on blacking out my emblems and deck lid badge. I did put them on wet. You mix up soap and water then spray the car and the back of the stripes. You get hours to move it around. I squeegeed forever. I'm thinking about calling AM and telling them their vinyl is warping. Maybe get another set and try it again.

Welcome to the forums! I wish I could help you but I know less than nothing about vinyl application and maintenance.

Thanks. Yea, I am right there with you. I don't know a thing about stripe/vinyl application. I was a nervous wreck when I was doing it... Even though it was not all too complicated.

Ya I got my stripes from AM... I would keep squeegeeing it and use a heat gun to help dry out the water.. Hair dryer might help.. Doing stripes wet takes forever to dry out especially if it's not very warm..

Re: American Muscle Vinyl Stripe Help

Did you clean, remove the wax and degrease the surface? Also it looks like you went over the body line a bit.
Try warming them up with a hair dryer and rub out the edges with a soft squeegee or towel. Don't pull at the vinyl too much or it will stretch and wrinkle back up.
If you didn't have them professionally applied I doubt that AM is going to warranty them.

That would be my suggestion as well. Heat the vinyl back up and try and squeegee it again. The AM vinyl usually comes with a plastic thingy..but make sure you wrap it in something otherwise you could tear the vinyl. GL

Thanks for the input. I'll give it a whirl tonight after work and see how it goes.
