I love the 2013 Fusion! My pocket book right now, not so much. Anyway to answer your question I'd wait for a 2015. Don't go over budget. I went over budget, and it's not fun.

The 12's will have some incentives in a few months. I was in your shoes and decided the 12 was my choice. You can always add stuff to it! Good luck bro!

Re: Should I Wait For the 2013 GT model?

Awesome forum community!!

So I test drove both the '13 and the '12 in Paramus, NJ on Friday. I gave each one a little gas to see if I felt a difference. As far as performance, they are pretty much even (on the "butt dyno" ofcourse).

However, the cues in the '13 make it feel like a more up to date car, specifically the gauges. That LCD screen in the middle made me feel like I was in a Euro car for a second.

When it came to pricing, the dealer was a bit more flexible with the '12, but at 35K (brought down from 38K) for a new GT Premium with the Security package, I felt it was still a bit much. The '13 was 37K but they were unable to lower it for me.

My dream '13 would be gray with the Performance package and Microsoft Sync. I don't really need a Shaker audio system honestly, if I do have the need to upgrade, I can do that out-of-pocket.

So the dilemma now stands at getting the '12 I tested (gf says have analog gauges means its durable *cute*) or waiting for my perfect '13. The wise idea would be to wait since (a) I'll get what I want without settling for what's in front of me (b) It maybe a better price (especially around July 4th when dealers do incentives).

But my young soul became intoxicated with the level of acceleration and the sound of the 5.0. Getting back into my Toyota was very depressing. I have itchy driving feet at the moment but wisely, I should wait until I can get exactly what I want instead of settling for what is available now. I've already did that once and thats why im in a late model base Corolla.

Also, I've been seeing some used 2011's going for around 27K. That's an awesome deal and my monthly payments would drop significantly (>$100). Also, insurance rates drop (I have no idea why, their virtually the same car). That threw a wrench in my game plan since if I do go for the used model I would be saving loads of cash. What's your thoughts? I heard from other forums (from lots of googling "x car vs mustang gt) that their were initial manual transmissions issue. I can't have that if I plucking down over 28K on a car.

Unfortunately it was 2K over budget plus it wasn't what I was looking for as far as options. It was '13 GT Premium Black that's it. I wanted one with the Security package and Sync package in Gray.

Its amazing car, lots of looks even with the plastic seat covers flapping about

Get the stang you want dude. Dont settle its worth it at the end.... I wanted a new 2012 black with brembo package and 3:73 and one dealer told me no he cant do my price and the next dealership did it for me... Get the stang you want. Even if it cost alittle extra. Im a firm believer that it doesnt matter if a car is reliable or good on gas or cheap, as long as when ever you get into it and it makes you feel good everytime you drive it thats all that matter. Get the one you want

Either way youre paying a bunch of money so wait a little longer & get the car you want so you have no regrets, but make sure you wait long enough for the price to not hurt too much. Its tough to wait a few months more, but its better than waiting 5 years for the next car to be "the one" because you went cheap on this one.

You will never get incentives on mustangs. They are guarantee buys the only time you will get a deal is when they are close to winter and hve a few left on the lot that they wanna get rid of. Got my 12 for 25 with premiere shake security and microsoft sync. The 13s will hve the same options and cost more.

How did you get a '12 for 25k? I'd get a '12 right now if I could get one for that and cancel my '13

I was able to get it for 25 for the reason being it was a month before winter and they wanted it to sell it instead of having it sit all writer and just depreciate more and also since there are other dealers nearby with mustangs remaining in lots you can lie to them and say this dealer would give you this much etc took 2 weeks I going back and fourth getting them to compete against each other for business and it worked out for me. There are no incentives for them at all. I've worked for ford for years. Mustangs are guarantee buys no matter what the price. Same with camaros and challengers I have never seen a incentive for any of those in my life. Just like you can't get 0 percent financing for them too. It's simple to get a good deal if it's a sport car look for them near winter and where dealers are forced to negotaiate and take hits. And for inner it's best time for trucks. If you want a 13 when it comes off the lot you will pay a lot more than you would of you waited for what's left over and get a better deal. There is always one good one. I had to choose between a fully loaded black wih all options and manual or a white with the same thing except it was automatic. Can prob tell which one I got :p

Re: Should I Wait For the 2013 GT model?

I just traded my '10 for a '12 California Special in grabber blue It's awesome. I saw a '13 at the NY car show in Friday. I like the new snout, but don't like the new tail lights. The '12 CS has carbon-fiber-look seat inserts that look better than the suede on the '13CS. Also has same material on the doors, '13 does not. Didn't like the '13 dash either. New speedo/tach shadings, and no more needle gauges- the '13 has electronic gauges. I like the needles in my '12. One other thing- '13 lowers the side stripe and attaches 5.0 badge. The '12 does not, so everyone doesn't know you have the 5.0 in the '12. Personally, I don't care if they know- I only care about how it feels when I step on the gas. About buying- Ford was doing 0% financing on the '12s, not sure about the '13s. Also, what I do is search dealer inventory over, say, a 100 mile radius. Find one that meets your criteria. My pitch was- you have a bright blue, stick shift, convertible, with a V8 engine and gas at $4.50 a gallon. Let me take this off your hands so it doesn't sit on your floor for another 3 months, especially with the '13's coming in. They're willing to listen... Good luck!

If the difference is only $2k, spread out over 5 yrs, it's only like $40/mo difference... Right? Are you going to let the car go for that? Think of what you waste $40/mo on now! DO IT!

Re: Should I Wait For the 2013 GT model?

If you're going to buy a Mustang go with the 2012, their are more things available on it, and you can definitely put more money into it.. The 2013 doesn't really change much besides some minor facial changes. If you're into getting a one of a kind Mustang wait for the 2015 50th Model. Enough Said. The 2013 Shelby won't be available till late June anyways.
