Should I Wait For the 2013 GT model?

First timer here, brand new to the pony car craze.

I was wondering if I should wait for the 2013 GT model or get a nice deal hopefully for the 2012 model? I've already secured 35k for the car and I optioned a standard GT (manual) with the tech and Brembo package. Now if I go with the 2012 model, what discount do you think I can walk away with? I live in NYC but Im willing to go drive to get a better deal.

2012 or 2013...choices...

Up to you as to whether you like the 13 body style over the 12

Re: Should I Wait For the 2013 GT model?

I'm really liking the gt California package in blue. That's what pulling me towards the 2013. But a) it's a lil over budget and b) it's just looks...something I can possibly add on later to a non-premium gt.

If I were in the market for something new and was not in any real rush I'd wait for the '15, and if you don't like it they will be giving the '13-'14's away at that point.

The deals on 2012 cars isn't going to have that much of a deal on it. The 2013 would be my choice. Actually, I would wait until the 2015 50th anniversary re design. Check out the 2013 fusion for design hints.

I would get a used 11 then hold out until the 2015 comes out. There's not enough changes in the 13 for me to jump on that one. I have an 11 now and I've had it for over a yr. my g/f already knows that I'm getting a 15 when they come out.

IMO you can get deals on 11 or 12's being the newer model is coming out! Get a 11 or 12 and what till the 15 drops.

It really depends on ur taste. Do u like the 13 body or the 12 body? Personally between the looks. Track pack, hill assist, track controls, glad I waited for the 13

California isn't that great a fake hood scoop as over price body louvers that you can get cheaper online. As for money wise it's better for 2012 I gt mine fully loaded with brembo nav and rev erse camera and sensors and premiere seats for 25g brand new. Saved 15 to 20k of what it was originally worth.

Yeah, I am going to purchase the 13 model.

Were you able to pick one up now? All the dealerships around my area do not have a GT in stock yet.

Educate urself first with the order guide online. Understand what u want in the car. Then call up and see what dealerships specialize in mustangs. Go there, order u car the way u want and put down $500 towards it.
Once ur up and running ull eventually get a vin num and a build date. Apparently the car takes atleast 3 months if u get the track pack. Which is WELL worth it!
By the time u get ur car ull start to see them on showrooms

Where u located?

Re: Should I Wait For the 2013 GT model?

I'm in the Bronx, north of Manhattan, NY. Thanks for the good advice about researching a dealership specializing in Mustangs. I doubt there will be any close by me though. I'm probably going to have to order it from one of the Ford dealers near me and wait for delivery.

The wait is gonna kill me!!

I'm wondering if neogiating a good price would be tough given its a popular car. What do you think?

Well u have a few choices.
Diblasi ford in corona is a specialty
Mclaren ford in long island is also
There's a ford dealer in syosett as well that has mustang shows
I however chose Sansone ford in asbury park in nj. It's far but u can get a good deal and the dealership has their own mustang shop. They know what they r doing. I researched alot before choosing them.

Good luck hope I was able to help.
None of these dealers have one and won't get one. Ford looks at mustang sales nation wide, they give the cars first to specific dealers as far as I know.

Re: Should I Wait For the 2013 GT model?

Thanks for all tips Ken! This is extremely helpful, I feel like such a n00b to Mustangs.

I can honestly say I sat down any really thought about what I really wanted for the car. This car is supposed to be my weekend track car, so waiting for the cool lights from the 2013 is going against the main idea. Total re-realization man.

So now that I'm looking for a 2012 model. Sorry for the flip flop, I'm a mess. Plus it's getting so more difficult to get the 2013 model...

The 2013 lights you can swap out on a 2012 anyway which is a few hundred. You will save big on 12s and get pretty much the same as a 13 with a few hundred put into it. Like I said I got 25 for a new 12 5.0 and the 13s are going to be 43 to 50k so I can dump 25k into mine and make it look the same as a 13 with way more mods

Re: Should I Wait For the 2013 GT model?

is there a diffuser for the '12s to do quad exhaust? I'd love to have the new gt500 rear exhaust look.

Also, with the new piston, sleeve design...is there any advantage '12 vs. '13 as far as longevity or performance...or too early to tell. I figure some gear heads should have some input.

Yeah sorry. Here's a link to magnaflows website. Have to scroll down a bit. They have an axle-back and a catback. Have them for the 5.0, 4.6 and the 3.7 2010+

Don't think you can buy from them directly but I got mine off JEGS.
