4.10 gear installation cost?

Well since there's no option for 3.73 gears for the convertibles, I was thinking about just getting 4.10 instead. Anybody know how much it would cost to get them installed? Thanks.

It really varies from location and how much individual shops charge. Your best bet is to call around your local mechanics/speed shops for a quote.

Well I could get them, but not from the factory. So I thought instead of just putting 3.73s in aftermarket, I'd just step it up.

It's a convertible and they don't offer 3.73s from the factory on the convertible.

Interesting. Why do you want such an aggressive gearing? I only know of one person who put 4.10s in a mt82 car and he switched to 3.90s or 3.73s since they were costin him time in the quarter mile (had to shift into 5th)

I'm not sure if you're familiar with the gears from the 05-10 5spd, but the general rule of thumb is that 3.73 in an 11+ is the approx equivalent to 4.10s in an 05-10 and that 4.10s in an 11+ is equivalent to being completely ****ing insane. It really should come with a physical lock out for 1st gear, you won't be able to use it

This only applies to 11+ manuals, the autos are a whole different ball game and 4.10s in an 11+ auto would be a great choice.

Since its a drop top I assume you won't be doing much drag racing so I would go 3.73s.. If you do plan on racing then 3.90s.. 4.10s in these cars are equivalent to 4.30s in a 05-10.. First gear will be useless.. I take off in second most of the time driving around town and I have 3.73s..

Do 3.90 for perfect gear in the manual. 4.10s is to much in them. I know I had 4.10s. Plan was to go to a 3.90 n/a and a 3.55 with the blower.

Good price.

But break them in longer. 500 miles is the recommended miles. Also when hit that mile mark change the oil.

Go to your local circle track, and ask around. I took mine to a speed shop. They took 2days and charged $300 to set it up with 0 back lash, dam near burnt it up on way home. Circle track guy did it in 3hrs and only charged $200.

I have a 2006 GT Auto rear 3.31:1 ratio. I want to install the 4.10.

Thoughts? Has anyone here done it?

You'd have better luck posting in the appropriate section.

$300 seems to be the price point, check out what ever shop you let do the work.you can ruin a set of gears in 25 miles if not set up right. Get references
