Anyone mount a gun in their car?

I'm thinking of making a gun holder for the interior of the car. Not looking for a rack or holster, rather, a cutout that the gun will easily fit into. I'm thinking of in the glovebox or center console. Thoughts???

Seat back pouch works well and reachable from behind me (also keep in a inexpensive holster)

Yes it is. I know it's small, but I can carry it the easiest.

I understand. I have a PPK/S myself. Fun little gun. Very accurate.

That is pretty slick. I've always imagined some cool push button release on a trapdoor shelf that would drop down/out from under the sterling wheel. But that might be too far fetched.

That is pretty cool! I wonder if a Walter P22 with a 5 inch barrel would fit into something like that?

Re: Anyone mount a gun in their car?

It's custom, it's made out of five pieces of a hard foam that I laminated together. The first piece of foam was cut to fit inside the glovebox. I then traced the outline of the gun onto the remaining pieces and glued them all together. I wanted to get a suede type material to cover it, but wasn't able to find any at the local fabirc store; I ended using a piece of felt that I found at Wal-Mart for .23 cents. It was between a .45, Judge, and PPK, and chose the PPK because I like the way it fit on the right hand side. This setup doesn't affetct space inside the glovebox at all. The other two guns would make a much bigger statement, but would take up a lot of room.

Just a note, it may fit standing up like you are holding it. I tried it several ways and that way would work with a larger gun.
