Mods and your warranty

Have a 2011 GT and the guy I purchased it from had a Borla Axle-back and Steeda cold-air kit installed. Is my warranty voided because of this?

---------- Post added at 10:45 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:37 AM ----------

Nevermind. Did some searching on here and found my answer!

I have no idea. A tuner never came with the car. I should probably call the previous owner and ask them.

I believe the steeda cold air requires a tune? But yeah definitely check with the previous owner.

Re: Mods and your warranty

If you can get ahold of the previous owner....... Also,if you find out it has been tuned go straight to the dealer and let them know. You should have some sort of paper work from them stating it was tuned by the previous owner to cover your ***. If not it could affect the warranty later down the line.

You are correct. If has a steeda cold air it defiantly has a tune in it.

They're lying... Also, they have probably already voided your warranty due to it being tuned. My guess is they are in cya mode now since they sold the car as "being under warranty."

Re: Mods and your warranty

if the intake requires a tune DO NOT RUN IT WITHOUT A TUNE. It may be fine, just a big FYI, also its HIGHLY recommended to dyno the car just to be sure its safe.

Exhaust is generally fine, its only axle back and I dont see a Ford dealer going crazy about it unless they are a worthless dealership that doesnt deserve your business anyway.

I just called ford about this myself. I was looking for a cold air intake and asked them it voids the warranty. The answer they gave me is you can put after market parts on, but if the part you put on effects or causes the problem in the engine it voids the warranty. I have been looking for an intake either a k & n filter or a roush intake so it won't void it no matter what. But I have been trying to find out what I want to put on my car first because there's so many options.

Only thing is they can say whatever you did caused the problem even if it actually did not. Thats the catch to the whole thing

Re: Mods and your warranty

Got the Bama tuner in the mail and tuned it. Yep I was right, the vehicle had a stock tuning on it. The previous owner bought the intake, installed it, and never purchased a tuner. Well, now it is tuned and it runs like a MONSTER! YEAAAAA BOYYYYY

What tune did you go with?

---------- Post added at 10:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:44 PM ----------

Also we don't purchase these cars to remain stock. Warranty be damned. If something is going to break then having fun while breaking it!
