If you want a good paint match then have it painted by a reputable body shop in your area.. My paint does not match.. Ordered pre painted from 3d carbon.. I have seen a few different people say that theirs does not match also..

Keep in mind not every grabber blue is goin to be the exact same.. There will be variations in the shade.. Just for instance Chevy has a white color that we have 8 different paint swatches for to see which one matches closest when we order a camper shell/ tonneau cover prepainted..

---------- Post added at 11:27 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:21 AM ----------

Not saying that a prepainted part will FOR SURE be off.. It MIGHT be perfect.. BUT if you want a guaranteed match then have someone in your area do it.. Then they have the car there and can get the match perfect.. And even if they don't all you gotta do is tell them to repaint it.. If you order prepainted and aren't happy you gotta shell out more $$ to have it repainted then or send it back to get ur money back..

Re: Prepainted parts

If you order from someone like DG Custom, you pick the Grabber Blue that Ford uses.

You mean they use the same grabber blue or do you mean that I choose the color code of grabber blue they use?

Re: Prepainted parts

Sorry, let me clarify. I thought that some of these people were having problems with the AM prepainted parts not matching up with their cars.

It is possible some parts might not be exact. But if you select the right paint code it's going to be hard to tell. IMO

I'm just trying to save you the heartache and hassle man.. I've been down this road already.. The 3d carbon Wing comes from AM.. They don't paint it 3d carbon does.. If you'll just do a lil searching it won't be hard to find different cases where the grabber blue SPECIFICALLY from 3dcarbon hasn't matched.. But that there aren't any issues w other colors.. I ignored this and ordered one anyway like an idiot and low and behold the paint does not match.. it matches enough that you can't see it in pictures but in person stands out like a sore thumb to me.. I deal with prepainted parts of different kinds everyday.. You'll never get a perfect match when goin prepainted.. When a body shop does it they get your paint code( just like a prepainted part) but then after the paint is mixed they add to here and there to get the exact same tinting.. Regardless of where your ordering from DO NOT order a grabber blue prepainted 3d500 spoiler.. I didn't go w DG custom bc I heard the 3d carbon was better quality.. DG customs paint MAY match better but as I said if you want it to be a perfect match take it to a body shop..

AM is saying that they are painting the spoilers themselves in house and they will stand behind any color. I've ordered a bunch of stuff from them and they stand behind the product.

That's cool.. Only problem is if there is a problem you gotta send back and wait for them to repaint and send back to you.. If you go body shop and they mess up on the paint there's no hassle.. You just get it repainted!

How many grabbers are their on this site?!?! Lol! Hey I don't want to step on anyone's toes but I've got pre painted stuff from am louvers in legend lime, chin spoiler in yellow and will be getting louvers in grabber blue shortly. I've not had a problem with anything! But it was all stuff they did in house not something they got already painted

I guess us grabbers are taking over! And I've gotten the grabber blue 3d carbon gt500 wing off AM and it was perfect. Not sure if it was painted by them or 3dcarbon, but no issues here

I've been thinking about this I think a lot goes into the type of material (plastic, metal, etc) and if it has been primed or not. This may affect the shade or tone of the particular color. IDK though just my opinion.

Yea it has to be that, especially over time plastic bumpers I'm sure change color... plus they are painted separately from the vehicle when they're being built from the factory
