Re: Is the 3.13 gear any good?

If your wanting all out Acceleration go with 4.10 or 4.30
a 3.13 gear will give you no acceleration, it will a take away. The bigger the number the slower the top speed, but better acceleration. The smaller the number the better top end speed but less acceleration.

I presume you meant 3.31? If so, good is a relative opinion. What do you want to do with the car?

3.73s or 3.90s are your best bet for the quarter mile if staying NA. There are a few threads already on why this is.

Re: Is the 3.13 gear any good?

Is your car an auto or manual? If auto have 3.15's. Keep them till you get all the power you want. To include a stall. I have 3.15's and will keep them for a while as they will allow me to still trap over 135mph. If you have a manual again what are mod plans? If going FI keep the gears till after have the blower.

3.31 or 3.27 vs 3.73 is not a huge jump go 4.10 to tell a big difference but gas milage will go down as well as top end.

the more the rear end gear goes up the more the engine has to turn to get the rear tires to the same speed as before.

4.10s are too low of a gear for the '11+ manual mustangs.. Would be ok if your an auto.. 3.90s if your manual and planning on drag racing.. I have 3.73s and half the time I take off in 2nd when I'm driving around town.. I'm assuming you meant 3.15s which means your an auto and 4.10s would be great

---------- Post added at 05:06 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:04 PM ----------

If plan of going Supercharger/turbo then a 3.31 or 3.55 would be ideal

Agree if manual.

If auto like said wait till get blower or stall Or both. I might be going 2.73's or 3.90's. Depends on what gear want to trap in.

Agree with above. Send cai back. Specially roush. Best bang for Buck for an auto is a tune, stall, off road x pipe, and then suspension and weight reduction.

Buddy has full exhaust, stall, tune, rim-tires and some weight reduction(minor), 3.31 gears and runs constant low 11's. He is adding e85 and shooting for 10's.

Re: Is the 3.13 gear any good?

check with americanmuscle and bamachip tunes for intake/exhaust combos or what ever. If the intake doesnt require a tune... its not doing much.

a tune will void warranty though so ... just fyi

if your looking for rapid acceleration, than no. if you are driving an 11+ mustang then you should have 3.31, 3.55, or 3.73. the way gears work is very simple.

that number "3.73" means for every one rotation the tire makes, the driveshaft makes 3.73 full rotations. make sense?

so basically the higher number gears you have the more acceleration you are going to get and you will lose top end, opposite for low numbered gears. a great all around gear is the 3.73. thats what i have in my 2012 gt and i love it. first and second gear are ridiculously snappy. 3.55 is good for a daily driver car that sees a lot of highway but also a guy that likes to run people off street lights.

all in all, i'd go 3:73. hope this helps!

Remember he has an auto. So his came with 3.15's. Biggest acceleration would be a stall. Will crush an auto with higher gears and stock stall all day.

Circle D is only ones right now make one for us. I suggest atleast a 3600. If you want more then go more. They will resize the stall speed once for free.
