leak

I noticed that my rear end is leaking. Has any one heard of this happening before or know why it could be leaking.

"spirited" driving pushes out vent..... Yes I have it to.... I hear a different vent will stop it, from gt500 or aftermarket. Dealer had seen it many times, checked level, hadn't pushed much out

My leak was not the vent...it was the pinion seal...this is a fairly common leak and is covered under warranty. Cash price to fix is approx $100. Hope this helps!

How fast should it be fixed to avoid damage?

You don't want all of the fluid to run out, so either keep opening the filler plug and keep checking to make sure you have fluid or bring her in and get it taken care of...if it is the pinion seal. An easy way to tell is to let is sit overnight and then crawl under and carefully look to see if the fluid is dripping down from the top of the pumpkin where the vent is or if it is mainly wet in front where the driveshaft bolts up to the pinion flange area...should be very obvious...you have any pics?

Re: leak

If your diff is leaking it should be covered under warranty and fixed immediately ... this is not "common" or "normal," however, leaking from the vent is both.
