2011 GT Premium...

I'm trying to figure out why I'm having so much trouble shifting...I've driven 5 speeds for most my life and have never had these kinds of issues...seems like I'm always shifting from first to fourth...I talked to another guy who has an RS3...and he said he had the same problems when he first got his...I've only had mine for a little over a week..any info would be appreciated...

When I first got mine I had a similar problem and some times when down shifting into fourth I would accidentally go into second. You've just gotta relearn your shifting habits the gears are pretty close together.

Re: 2011 GT Premium...

Reach down in your pants and tuck your vagina in......just kidding. Shifting into 2nd should be a little pull to the left while pulling back. The new tranny shifts so smooth that you almost have to ease it in vs the older trannys and jamming it in there.

Your car is totally different than the 2011+ tranny.

Re: 2011 GT Premium...

+1 It,s the skip shift....it will activate in several ways.....18 to 22 mph blah, blah ****.....you will need a tune to eliminate or if you want maybe get it turned off via your dealer without a tune.....happen in slow traffic? stop and go ****? you can avoid it alot by just bring your speed up a little more before that shift but not always easy in slow traffic I know....I hate it and mine has been off from day one.

Re: 2011 GT Premium...

You will know when it activates because it will tell you on the digital part of your gauge cluster.

I have learned to just take off in 2nd gear when in traffic or accelerating gently. The 3.73 gear helps with this too. Taking off from 2nd won't be affected by the skip shift.

Shifting from 1st to 3rd also deactivates it and is much more reasonable than 1st to 4th.

Or you can just unplug the skip-****f solinoid. It is a 2 wire (purple and white) connector above the drain and fill ports on the passenger side/rear of the trans..........opps I mean skip-SHIFT

I was just driving home from Ihop, with my daughter, and we heard a loud thump...like something fell on the back floor board...pulled over, checked it out and couldn't find anything so headed home and a few minutes later the check engine light came on...pulled into a store, turned the car off, got something to drink, and it's still on...I've only had the car for two Weeks and it's making me a nervous wreck...I guess I just take it to the dealer and get it looked at? The warranty should cover something like that shouldn't it? Oh, and the fuel inlet warning keeps coming on...

Take it in. You are covered by warranty.

When I had a manual mine came on like 2 times. I usually started off in 2nd with the 4.10's.

Took it in to the dealer...they said it was just the fuel filler tube and that I'd have it back by tomorrow...I'm glad, because they gave me a Focus as a loaner...lol
