Re: 2013 mustang custom orders

Well after long talks with the owner of the dealership, the regional sales manager in Dearborn, and my sales person my GT will finally go into production next Thursday. It's been a long hall as the procees started in January annd was finnaly ordered on Febuary 20th. Seems that the smaller dealerships do not get the allocations from Ford that the larger ones do. My allocation came ala another dealer needing a GT500 and they did not have an allocation for one. Thus the trade and all customers are happy. My dealer lost his one GT for the year, so I appreciate their efforts. Hope this will help with anyone who runs into problems in the future. My son and I are are really excited as this is our dream car that we talked about since he was little. GT Coupe, Deep Impact Blue, GT Track package, Comfort package, Charoal/Black with Grabber Blue Accent, Accessory Package 1, and a set of GT500 exhausts waiting for install.

Re: 2013 mustang custom orders

Reviving the thread I guess, but wanted to get some opinions as my car as been shipped and expected arrival is the 15th of this month. I want to change the grille and can't decide between the new Roush cross-bar style, california special(similar to roush except more bars and with classic mustang symbol), and the Boss. What do you guys think?

Personally, I'm quite fond of the "honeycomb" grill mine came with. I've never really liked the California Special grill at all, but that's just one OLD woman's opinion. Get which ever one makes you the happiest, cuz you're the one who'll have to look at it everyday.

Re: 2013 mustang custom orders

Curious if you have received your GT yet? I just ordered my '13 GT Premium, 6sp with Track Pak. Given a build date of w/o 7/14. Any idea how long it takes to arrive at my dealership (NY) from MI (Flat Rock plant build I believe) after the build date? I'm so excited I can hardly stand it!

As someone who just went through AF basic a bit ago, and is looking to order my own gt, I can give you some advice on this. Basic training and the tech school that follows are big. Like, that's all you will be doing and thinking about when you're going through it. Basic is 2 months, then I had about 6 months of tech school. This time in your life is going to be very tumultuous, and you will be moving around A LOT. I don't know what job you have assigned (if you even have one yet), but don't set a specific date on car ordering yet. You won't have time for it for a while, anyway. Plus, what if you get assigned somewhere overseas? What I did (that worked out pretty well) is to save save save. Stockpile your money. You will see other airmen blow their paychecks on xboxs, tvs, etc. Dont do that. Save up, and when the time comes, you will have a crazy amount for a down payment. It'll be worth the wait, plus you won't put all your paychecks toward your car every month. I know this may sound lame, but you'll understand me 100% when you start going through it. Btw lemme know if you have any questions about the AF. Do you havea job assigned yet?

Ok. You're a different job than me, but I believe you your tech school is 2 or 4 months...can't remember. Either way, you could get sent to any AF base in the world. Trust me, don't rush it. If you wait until the time is right, it will be obtainable. If you try to get it right away, you may not even get to drive it, let alone pay for it. On e3 pay, if you bought a new gt with little or no down payment, it would drain all the money you make. Trust me on this, save up for it. It's hard, but be patient haha

Ok so 4 months or so, total. All I can say is be careful and patient. E3 pay may seem pretty good, but it's reeeeeeeal easy to burn through it fast. Good luck bro

Typically the dealer asks for a $500-$1000 good faith deposit. Sometimes its non-refundable if you change your mind, if you dont, it goes towards the purchase price of the car. Good luck!

You can, or you can go on fords website, build your car, then it will tell you if any models with the options you selected are availible on the lots. Good luck!

First of all, thank u guys for your service. As for ordering the car, my dealer didn't ask for any money at all. They know they can sell the car if your deal falls through so I wouldn't give them any money till I see the car. Do your research and know what you're willing to pay before you go in. Good luck!

Re: 2013 mustang custom orders

Impatient yes! But when I say "picked up" that means the order is just acknowledged, it's 6 weeks after that by the time it's built and sent to CA. Normally the car is scheduled that same week it's ordered, the following week at the latest. But because of the back order on the Brembos, the best case scenario is it might get scheduled in August. I won't see the car until September if I'm lucky.

If you stretch your search out a bit, im sure you can find your color and packages you ordered already on a lot somewhere. For me, it be worth driving halfway accross the country rather then waiting till ???????.

Re: 2013 mustang custom orders

Waited 4 months to get mine. Brembos were main issue as if you miss you run you wait about 3 weeks til they do your build. Worth the wait though it was not an easy 4 months. There were no cars within 10 states with my package so I just waited. Put a set of GT500 mufflers on today. Sound really good. Was not looking to be too loud, just different than the stocks.Good luck what ever you do, I feel the pain.

Re: 2013 mustang custom orders

Yeah, there isn't a Mustang within 200 miles with what I want on the car. Plus I've worked with this dealership and they will take care of me. Just waiting until August for the car to be scheduled, I guess I missed the build run. Yes the wait is painful, but the anticipation makes the "the day" all that much sweeter.
