What do you consider low?

I can tell you from experience you need the following. Atleast.

Full exhaust, boss intake, open air filter,(cold air), dynto tune taking rpms out to 7800 rpms. Drive shaft.

With these mods I made 464whp.

---------- Post added at 06:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:42 PM ----------

I listed cold air cause on a dyno they do make power over a stock box. Reason cause Hood is open when dyno. Once Hood is closed it is back to even with stock box as it can't take advantage of the open Hood and fan. Make since?

what do you think about the "JLT carbon fiber CAI and bama tuner?"
will coils help?
what about a shaker system?

All CAIs are pretty much equal. Bama tune will tide you over until you can get a dyno tune but will net get you to where you need. The sct will be needed for the dyno tune anyways, so it's not a waste.

Coils may, but should be the last thing on your list.

Shaker is junk, for looks only. Also, can't run it with the boss intake mani.

Actual shops have tested the coils and found they are a worthless.

I would start off with a full exhaust with off road x pipe. A tune from lethal performance to go with it.

From there do boss intake and retune.

Do you have e85 where you live?

Yes we have e85 in Austin. Does a cat delete make it illegal to drive on the highway/city limits

Technically yes..but no cop is going to check. When time for inspection you just swap out. E85 Would be perfect to tune for. You would need injectors

Seems like this is the central Texas section ..lol
He is right speaking from REAL experience no officer is going to climb under your car and look for cats especially if the car is lowered. Just maintain the cats for inspection

You wont be making as much power with a catted x pipe vs a offroad x pipe

---------- Post added at 11:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:57 PM ----------

Stop looking at just american muscle. LMR has it for $500 and stage 3 motorsports has one for $450 both with free shipping

---------- Post added at 11:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:06 PM ----------

Headers wouldn't be a bad next step either but will cost almost the same as the intake with less power gained

---------- Post added at 11:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:07 PM ----------

O yea and I keep hearing good things about the aluminum driveshaft too

Yea about $750, again, LMR is cheaper than AM. But I think it'll be an excellent mod because it free up hp. Less stress on everything else because the engine doesnt have to use as much energy to turn it and less fuel is consumed and the overall car is lighter.

Call Tousley Ford for boss intake. I got mine there for way cheaper then everyone else. At one time they had it for 270.

---------- Post added at 08:50 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:47 AM ----------

On drive shaft call around. Call shaftmasters I want say they was 600-650. It does help free up some HP and removes rotating mass. They now have a carbon fiber one that is even stronger and lighter.

The boss is definitely worth it. It's getting cheaper. I too have seen it for $300 on sale. Don't pay 700!! The Boss intake is a real upgrade. Dollar for dollar is worth the performance. The Boss mustang is a bad *** car. It out performs a stage 3 roush. You will be happy to put a little of that in your ride.

Re: Best Mods

I've put all the costs together to run N/A or S/C. With all the parts mentioned above BOSS IM, etc... it is going to cost around 4k (I think it is actually more, I don't have all the specs in front of me) give or take and that depends on the install price, maybe you can get a deal or something (discounts at AM, etc.). I even looked up pricing from other folks around the area and other sites. For the HP gain, I decided to go with FR S/C 525HP...for the money and the additional gains I'm paying a little more money, but I believe I will be much happier until that mod monster hits me in the back of the head again. The reason I went with the 525HP is the warranty if installed by a Ford Dealer. I think the 625HP is just a few hundred more but no warranty. Plus I really don't know where the hell I"m going to use 525HP that comes with the one I'm installing. Anyway, food for thought. Good luck.

I just called several places. Ford raised the prices on them. Even toulsey ford who was selling for 275 at one tim ethen jmped to 375 has now jumped to 475. Ford keeps raising prices on them. SO in return so does every one else.
