Helmets

Hey guys looking into a helmet for drag and road course. Not a rich man and paying for a wedding (kill me now) but I like the bell vortex motorcycle helmet alot. 180.00 and it's snell. Think it's a good/smart buy or do I have to get an auto helmet?

I feel your pain! My wedding is in June. You can check a site, leatherup.com, they've got great prices on helmets. I picked up a modular full face for my bike for less than $90 shipped.

Leatherup sounds good but what I'm saying is do u use ur bike helmet for ur car too? Cause obviously bike helmets are a hell of alot cheaper than auto helmets.

Re: Helmets

I do all the time. Buy one a hair too large for car duty, you'll thank yourself as you can quickly slide it on in the staging lanes and off on the return road.

Anything Snell 2005 or newer is a-ok on the track.

HJC makes good kit for not too much money. I use them for both bike and car racing, plus touring around. However, for MC use, a snug fit is much more important, obviously.

Re: Helmets

You need a Snell SA for auto racing @ some tracks due to the flammability test. A Snell M for motorcycle racing has no flammability parameters. This does matter at some events and facilities.

Here is some good info...

Re: Helmets

yeah man, he's right. I wasn't reading closely and assumed you meant drag racing, as that's the kind of racing I do. RR has different rules. See what your sanctioning body says.
