Halogen to HID

Has anyone done this on their 2011 and up? I plan on doing it with 8000k bulbs. Does anyone have any suggestions. Anyone know what the factory HID lights are....4300, 6000, 8000k?

Only stupid ppl do it. Your housings are not designed for hid so you will be blinding ppl. Certain states are starting to crack down on these as they are illegal.

+1 do it the right way and either retro fit projectors or buy the actual HID headlights off eBay

Re: Halogen to HID

I have the Silverstar Ultras on mine. Just a bright white light I'd do the HIDs but I don't have projectors

I think those look better then HID's I'm over the whole HID experience. If it doesn't come stock, I ain't messing with it. Besides, I'm the color Nazi, I hate everything except for pure white (4300K). Lol, jeez that sounds so racist. :O

Re: Halogen to HID

as stated I would not do this on a stock housing headlight but..... I thought of an interesting idea.

The BASE 2013 Mustang headlight (non HID) has a projector lens in it (much like my wife's 2011 Edge). You can install a HID kit on this headlight and it will project right AND have a cutoff so you wont blind people. I plan to look into this as the headlights should be cheap.

I installed a DDMtuning HID kit in my wife's 2011 Edge and worked perfect, had a cutoff, didnt blind people all is well other than for some reason either it was not comparable or the kit had issues it would cut off now and again so I removed it. May try it in my 2012 v6 though one day when I can get new lens from the newer one. Look at a pic and you can see the projection style lens it has.

Keep in mind there is a HID version and a non HID version, I am talking about the NON HID housing.

Will a 2013 headlight fit in a 2011 since the front is different?

X2. I had HID's on my X5 and I wasn't fully impressed with them. I think I'm just going to get different bulbs and retain the stock headlights

The bulbs I got are H13. If I get 2011 projectors housings it won't work?
