STICK OR AUTO??

I live in Miami, FL which is FULL of people. I'm not sure if I should ge a manual trans or an auto trans. Since this will be my first car and I'm going on an ok route to school I would like to have stick. But is it worth it in a place like this? Anyone who wants to post their experience, it would help.

Re: STICK OR AUTO??

I've been to Miami and you guys have a lot of highways and interstates and for that reason a stick wouldn't be bad. Plus you can do cool stuff like rev your engine while cruising down ocean blvd. lol. Anyway, if you plan on drag racing your car I have heard that the autos are faster. However, I love my manual and wouldn't give it up for the world.

Re: STICK OR AUTO??

everyone is different, I wanted a manual. The 2011 + seem to get better mileage in an auto oddly enough

Nothing like rowing gears for yourself. You control the car, you control the volume !

The manual tranny on our cars sucks! Many known issues with it. Save headaches and go auto. Stick may be good on the streets but on the track auto rules

At the end of the day everybody has their own opinion. How many issues have the manual transmissions had? If a few of them have had issues then your logic would suggest that you shouldn't buy a mustang. Some of the coyotes have been known to drink oil obsessively. Are you going to tune your car? Some of them have been known to cause cylinder issues. Bottom line is whenever you have ANYTHING that is mechanical, it can break. Buy whatever makes you happy, that's why these cars come with warranty!

I like my auto. People may says it's lame or whatever but I don't care. Had a manual before and hated every minute driving. Didn't see the fun. Could have been the fact that it was a 98 saturn something, but I like the auto. Just easier..

Go with the stick! I learned how to drive manual on this car and wouldn't go back to auto. When I tell people I have a 5.0 the first question, is it stick? Go with what you want though. Your driving it.

Re: STICK OR AUTO??

Get a stick! Point blank! My 2011 5.0 is my fourth Stang, 2000 GT man, 1996 GT Vert auto, 2005 GT auto, 2011 5.0 manual....had both twice...never will I buy an auto again...just my experience cus it's true the first question ppl ask me when they see my Stang is...Please, Tell me it's a stick?...of coarse cus it's a muscle car and to gain muscle u have to do it manually, at the gym, muscle doesn't come automatic! It's raw power!

I like the manual in my Mustang. Besides cold mornings, it's super easy to use. My X5 was an auto, and I thought I'd be ok with it, but after 6 months I hated it. I'm glad I didn't get an auto when I bought my Mustang

I have busted 2 & 3 series turbo BMW's in GE with a neon because they have to wait for the shift change. A rev happy Stang w/out rev lim set should pace you and then beat an auto waiting for PCM controlled shift. Stick can run all the way to the red line in all gears. So, if you learn to shift...hmmm. Nough said. Albeit this is about non-modified.

Re: STICK OR AUTO??

Automatic in any sports car , at any age, is a joke. If you want a auto...buy a 4 door sedan.

Re: STICK OR AUTO??

Automatics don't even sound the same as a manual! Is like you don't even get your full potential HP cus it switches the gears before your Stang can get deep into the RPMs.....just my 2cents!

I would say manual. If something goes wrong in a manual you can replace a part. If something goes wrong in automatic you have more worries. Manual is cheaper on insurance, because you have more control of the speed. It's more fun to drive manual, but if you are one of the people that can't drive stick, than of course auto is for you. Plus manuals are cheaper than automatics.

Re: STICK OR AUTO??

I say test drive them both an auto and a stick...see which feels better to you. If traffic sucks there then go auto...if you it is going to be your DD go auto...If not get a stick, it is a lot more fun to drive...you do have a more control of how you drive it (in the way of speed, shifting, etc). IMO
