Anyone Running 275/50/15s with 3.73?

Anyone having to shift into 5th with these tires with 3.73s in the 1/4???

I know its a 26" tire just wanna hear some feedback. I bought two from AM going from a 275/60/15 and was gonna try the small tire. Now the price went up on em and Im thinkin about just keepin em instead of sending em back.

Thanks!!

You will go into 5th for sure. On a stick car should have a full slick.

How much power are you putting down that you need to drill the rims? I think he meant "full size" not a full slick as in a bias-ply tire.

I only have about 390-400hp probably at the wheels with tune exhaust and cai. I had someone else tell me a full slick, bias-ply should be the only thing i use also haha. I dont think im runnin enough HP to have to worry about drilling it. I mean i see cars with 500-600hp runnin without drilling

A full size drag radial on 15 or 18" wheels should be enough to put 400RWHP down IMO. You can't really drive around on bias ply tires either, you would need a separate set of street tires.

I'd look into MT ET Street IIs or Nitto NT05Rs, could probably even get away with Nitto NT555Rs.

I was runnin the MT ET Streets 275/60/15 but was only trapping at about 6500 rpm, on my street tires i about red line, so i figured a 275/50/15 would help me but ill have to go into 5th, i saw a car run 11.9s shifting into 5th so is it really that much of a bad thing?

Re: Anyone Running 275/50/15s with 3.73?

With my 26" drag radials, I'm forced to shift at 1000' or so. Once I burn these up, I'm going 15" with a 28" height, even though I'm NA stocker, as that keep me in 4th and ease my traction/ wheelhop woes when track prep is less than ideal.

On the factory Brembo 19s + 3.73 I can just let the car bang the limiter right at the stripe in 4th. The shift to 5th'll cost you maybe a tenth but, there's always the chance of screwing it up, too but, hell, you could coast it out in neutral and still make a decent run so, it ain't fatal having to shift to 5.
