royal purple synchromax

I have always believed that royal purple was a bunch of hype and overpriced oil... BOY WAS I WRONG!!

I'm 200 miles shy of 30k and I know about all of the TSB's with the MT82 and its fluid. Most people on here talk about AMSOil, so that's what I was going to put in my tranny. Could not find AMSOil as readily available as the RP so I just "settled" for the RP. THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS FAR MORE SMOOTHLY, BOTH COLD AND HOT, THAN EVER BEFORE. This may just be in my head (it probably is) but it seems like the whole car is, not necessarily faster, but almost seems to glide now instead of just driving.

Has anyone else used RP in their MT82? if so what are your thoughts?

Re: royal purple synchromax

I remember someone making a post about the redline saying they believe it was too low viscosity oil and they found metal "dust" in their transmission when they drained it... at least I think it was redline.... you didn't have that issue at all?

I used Royal Purple gear oil, and it made a huge difference in mine. I actually just posted that my Steeda shifter failed and had to reinstall the stock shifter. The improvement is even more noticeable with the stock shifter.

I put n RP in my 12 gt and cud tell a diff. Its still is a little crunchy 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd when the ambient temp is below, say 40 degrees, and the car is cold. After it warms up and i drive a few miles, its great! It did make a diff and it seems smoother than the stock fluid esp now that the warmer weather is here! Im very pleased w it!
