When you put 6qts in, does it show to the top of you dipstick? Mine doesn't and I was wondering if it has to do with the K&N oil filter I'm using.

What do you mean? That it may actually be less than 6 quarts? If so, you need 7 quarts to do a complete oil change on a 3V.

Otherwise, Yes. When I complete my oil change It is almost perfect on the dipstick.

Mine is a 4V engine. It says 6qts in the manual, but I've changed it twice; RP and K&N oil filter. Both times it comes up just over 3/4 to the top of the line. I don't want to overfill, ya know.

2011 Ford Mustang GT 5.0: Dealer Oil Underfill?

Says the 5.0 takes 8 quarts to complete (A little under 8).

Describes the same issue you described. 6 quarts showing low but took 7 and change to fill it.

5.0 oil brand and capacity - SVTPerformance

Another thread saying 8. Is the manual wrong?

Wish mine was a 5.0 I have an 04 Mach 1. So you think the same thing is going on with my 4.6 4V, calls for 6, but may require 6 and change to get to fill line?

Ahhhhhh! You said 4V I automatically assumed 5.0. Stupid me.

How much? - MustangForums.com

These people apparently have to used between 6.25 to 6.5 to get the stick to read full.
