stock gt vs 2010+ vettes

Been trying to get a race with one with my bone stock 12 gt base, but the south Florida traffic is non permissive everytime I see one...anyone know how we stack up against these Chevy tyrants? I've beaten my friend's stock Camaro ss pretty handily a few times...I haven't run her at the track yet, but she feels like a low 13 second car...

Btw i'm not talking about z06's here lol, I know those things are 500HP+, just a base vette...

Re: stock gt vs 2010+ vettes

base vettes are still very quick. Stock for stock, pretty sure the vette would win.

Any truth to ford possibly underrating the HP numbers for insurance reasons like they used to in the 60's?

10 more HP and 300lbs, a decisively better driver could overcome that i'm hoping so when I finally get one in my sights

My bet would be on the Vette!.. More HP and a lot more Torque in a lighter sleeker package!..

Re: stock gt vs 2010+ vettes

Vettes put their power to the ground better than stangs. A lot of things make the stang a better choice for me, but the vettes will win when rwhp numbers are close.

A C6 is going to give you problems. You can level the playing field pretty easily though with relatively cheap mods that you can install yourself.

In order to beat a vette your stang has to have at least a minimum of 100hp or more.

My friend has a 2012 Grand Sport with Borla exhaust. He put down 407rwhp. I ran him with my 11 Brembo GT, 3.73's, 6M and Roush Axelbacks. We slowed from second gear on the highway. I was neck and neck with him till 5th gear and he started to walk. Not bad for my car being pretty much stock.

Everything equal as drivers that is a stock C6 will walk easy away. Then mod for mod they will keep walking you. At the track both equal the vette will still win.

As above a mustand has to have on average 100whp more then a vette to walk away.

I have seen Z06 550whp walk away from 700whp mustangs/GT500's. Vettes are bad when start Modding. But can be very expensive to mod. Cam is one the cheapest things on them.

Re: stock gt vs 2010+ vettes

C5Z stock 405 HP same as a C6. This onbe has intake/exhaust and tune.. 5.0 with Boss/cold air/full exhaust/tune. Both make about same whp. But this shows what happens. Vette driver admitted that the driver in the 5.0 was even a little better then him.
