Dyno Today

Had my first dyno today. Unfortunately I did not have do a dyno before the S/C. All things equal I pulled about right...

1st Pull: 448.94 HP 412.26 MT
2nd Pull: 452.89 HP 416.72 MT
3rd Pull: 463.62 HP 420.77 MT

I'm happy and keep in mind there are no other mods (Flowmaster 40 Series Exhaust), this is running the Ford ProCal Tune very conservative at 7 PSI...Did find out that the speed limiter is still on maxed out at 125 MPH (or 128 don't remember).

After the warranty is gone (12 months) a few upgrades (pulley, CAI, custom tune) and I can easily get over 500HP, which will be plenty for me.

Now I just need to get the time and get over my fear of a track and drag this baby.

That's pretty cool! Can't wait to see what you do after the warranty is done

Re: Dyno Today

Is there any way to kill that speed limiter? I assume you had to run the dyno in 4th with that kind of cap?

Re: Dyno Today

Dyno was runned from 5th...I watched him shift, I wanted to see where he was doing it from. I'm not sure if there is or not, it would be part of the tune and it is a canned tune from Ford when you order the S/C you then go online to order the Ford ProCal. It sucks, I didn't realize that.

Videos of the day...

Are there any adjustable parameters when you load the tune from the procal? Maybe talk to the dealership that did the install and ask them if the limiter can be removed?

What gears are you running?

I'll have ask about the limiter. Stock 3:55 gears I won't change those out until everything else is done and see how she does.

I bet you would have put down better numbers if you weren't hitting the limiter ... HP was still climbing when they shut down at 6100.

Re: Dyno Today

You could have done bolt ons and pulled those #s. Why did you chose to go FI now vs before the warranty goes out?

When I crunched the numbers it was a couple grand difference, kept the warranty for another 12 months / 12,000 miles. And I can still change out the pulley, custom tune, and more and gain more power. Going NA you can only go so far I feel I have room to grow and feel better about it. Keep in mind that I'm only pushing 7 psi in boost. Even with a custom tune I could pull more HP. Just my preference and felt for the money I would drop for it all I was a little mor comfortable going this route.

In addition FRPP has an upgrade pulley and tune that gains me another 100HP. Which is far more than bolt ons.

Buddy just ordered one threw Evolution for 5400 with tuner kit since he already has injectors. Cold air/and Programmer with tune in it and with a smaller pulley.

Roush will put down more with less work and tuning won't it?

JPC made 500whp with bolt ons and cams. Then made 550whp with stroker engine. There is never a limit even N/A. People have made 700-800whp N/A with engines.

Anyway are you running cats still? You ned to get rid of them. You will do more damage then good. SC don't like them. On guy just posted on S197 that had a Sc with cats and blew his engine. Cat broke up and caused issues and it blew.

Not the first one either. Makes you wonder how the GT500s survive lol.

Different setup. Different headers/exhaust designed for a blower from the go.

The whole "being designed for it" is the key. It's kinda surprising that nobody has made a "SC safe" setup as popular as FI applications are in these cars and as many states still require inspection.

Going with a aftermarket exhaust fixes your issues. High quality high flow cats, LT headers that push them cats back. Cats still being less restrictive then regular.

Yes I am...from what I know I have to here in VA.

Regardless of all the issues either going NA or S/C I'm happy with the choice I made.

That has to be a serious hassle to swap out?

Thanks.
