quick BOSS IM question

I plan on installing my boss IM this morning, however I am still waiting to get my e-mail tune back. is this unsafe or bad in anyway if I run the new intake without the tune? will it even matter?

I know everyone has busy lives but a quick answer would be greatly appreciated.

Re: quick BOSS IM question

I think a tune is required for it. Might run really rough. I don't think it would harm anything.... May just throw check engine light.

Car won't run well without a tune. Might be ok if you're running the stock maf but I would think you might run lean. I'd keep a datalog session open so you can monitor your ad and knock.

Yea, I've decided against it, better safe than sorry I guess. Don't wanna blow my motor just because I'm impatient and excited lol

There's a guy on the F150 forum, he installed the Boss manifold on his 5.0 F150 and he ran it without the tune for a few days and it was fine.Click image for larger version

I can't imagine it would hurt anything, from what I understand it increases airflow and nothing more, but it won't even draw in more air if the PCM is not told to right?

But mostly I just don't want it to go BOOM!!

After my trip to Afghanistan I don't do well with things that go boom, I might jump in a ditch and start looking for Charlie haha

That's pretty sweet. Didn't even think about those being installed on the F-150s
