Hood Stripes, put your pics here...

Can we put all are aftermarket hood stripes or ordered from the dealer and then had them installed in one thread ? I'm on the fence of ordering some stripes for my car so I thought i would start this thread and have all the stripes in one place for me and anyone else looking.

Some different looks of my hood stripes. Mine were custom painted...not sure if it helps you.

I went with the custom painted also. I like the gloss look better than the flat vinyl option.

Re: Hood Stripes, put your pics here...

Anyone have any stripes on a Kona Blue besides white? Looking at possibly putting a flat black quad stripe.

Well if you don't mind I will be copying your stripes color and all, I'm getting mine painted as well. Did you get a full clear respray or just the spears?

Go for it!!! Love to see the pics when you get it done. They put on all the coats, the color is Fords NQ yellow blaze and it's a tricoat meaning it has a base the a pearl then the clear coat. I'm not sure exactly how many coats went in I forget. I would guess they recleared the entire hood.

Something else as well and I can take a close up for you. But the paint fills in the entire spear meaning it goes up on the other side some. If you look at the 3M versions it is only the inside of the spear.

Yeah I'm having the shop do the yellow blaze but they are just going to clear the area of the yellow, the shop showed me the 3m and I didn't like it so I would spend the extra money for the paint and I getting the spray can version to do some of the other accents under the hood. The are spraying the 5.0 the same yellow. And I'm working on a design for the running horse now with an artist. The faux gas cap was ordered from ford for 85 so when that comes in that will be painted also. I'm getting the cailibers powered coated a yellow close to the yellow blaze also. I was quoted 485 for all the paint so far.

Re: Hood Stripes, put your pics here...

Just out of curiosity, has anyone ever removed their vinyl hood strips (or any stripes for that matter)? I'm curious if the paint fades on the non vinyl surfaces.

I was told by my stripe guy that the paint would fade some, but usually they can just buff it out and it will blend in, or after a while that part will fade too to match the rest of the car. I guess it depends on how long the stripes have been on there.

If those red pin stripes glow in the dark or are flourescent, like a Tron car, then I love them!

I'm a stripes master after installing these (classic white on blue):

They looked great and I got a lot of attention... but... I'd never do it again (go the paint route)... especially if you plan to keep the car for more than a couple of years. One the stripes crack and fall apart after a few years (if stored outdoors). And two, the stripes are a huge pain to remove unless perfectly applied. I had to redo the trunk stripes and it took me hours to get all the glue residue from the stripes removed.

Lastly, (at least with white stripes) bird poop and other debris can stain your stripes unless removed quickly or you coat the stripes with wax/sealant. It became a real pain to keep them perfectly clean.

Funny because I was about to do that same strip with the same color but I went this route.
