Race gas??

Anyone have experience with race gas. My friend sells it and just wondering if it's worth a shot. If I ever take it to a track.

If you're tuned for it, yes. If not, no.

Re: Race gas??

If you have to ask if you need race gas, you don't. You would definitely know if you needed it and/or would benefit from it.

I was being serious, not sarcastic. Nobody needs or could gain from race gas that doesn't know already...

Re: Race gas??

Knowledge is power, so here's a little info for ya:

http://iqlearningsystems.com/ethanol...cteristics.pdf

Thermo breakdown in a nutshell: Your engine is only capable of moving a certain amount of air in a certain time frame. You can calculate that volume in pounds. The potential energy of a fuel is measured in BTU/Lb. BTUs = energy. To compare fuels, calculate A/F mixture needed for max power of a fuel with any given weight of air. Racing fuel has lower BTU/Lb ratio than pump gas w/ (approx) same A/F so it has less potential energy. If you use racing fuel in a stock motor capable of running pump gas, you will make less power. A/F for CH3NO2 is somewheres around 1.7/1 @ 5000 BTU/Lb. Don't put that in your car, though

*edit-
looks like that pdf over-estimates BTU/lb for race fuel- Sunoco Race Fuels | 260 GTX
