Who likes there Shaker 500 ?

I hate to say but the stock stereo in my Camaro SS is way better then Fords Shaker 500. I just can't get the sound right in this car other then that I love the car.

I have to say after reading about how bad they are, I can't really find any complaints about mine but I've only had it for a day and a half. Sounds way better than whats in my 08 fx2

I had a 2008 FX2 Race Red myself but with the upgraded 20" wheels and the stereo rocked with the stock amp under the back seat.

Never had a problem with the shaker system it's better than Chevs and dodges systems by far. The shaker 1000 is pretty good too

I swapped out the front and rear 5x7's, and that made a huge improvement. I am satisfied with the Shaker 500, but it can't be compared to an aftermarket system.

Re: Who likes there Shaker 500 ?

It was two pairs of speakers (4). I went onto Crutchfield and input my car, then searched for what I wanted. I wouldn't recommend buying from Crutchfield due to their excessive prices, but it is a great place to read reviews and find equipment that fits. I chose Polks for the front, and Kickers in the rear. Fit was perfect, and I found the plug-and-play adapters at Best Buy. Below is a link to another write-up.

My wife's rav4, 4runner, and now Juke all have had a better stereo then my shaker 500. Both her Toyota was JHL.systems with amp stock, and the juke has Rockford fosgate stock.

I guess its good I'm not into systems like some people.

I think it's fine. Sounds better than the Bose system in my 2011 Altima 3.5 I traded.

Prefer sound of exhaust over radio. That's why I bought a GT! The only time I've really listened to it was on a long trip...and it wasn't upsettingly bad. I could make adjustments to radio and iPhone settings to make music sound decent.

Set your bass to 2 bars to the right from the middle so +2 bass and set u
Your treble 2 bars left from max and bring the sound +1 to the front doors

---------- Post added at 06:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:12 PM ----------

I think its a pretty great system, just break it in slowly and not hammer it right away.... Let the speakers warm up... For what it is it gets the job done

I would probably consider upgrading ur speakers and adding an amp.... I would never consider an after market deck, i like the look of the factory set up and i think an after market deck will throw off the look of the dash, it wont blend nicely... You can always tap a signal amd add an amp

She likes it over 4runner cause it don't cost 80 a week to fill up. It also has navigation, leather, sunroof for only 23k. It gets 35mpg where there 4runner got 23mpg. She also dropped her payment by 180 a month.

If you have never had a aftermarket stereo the shaker is alright. But once you have had an aftermarket stereo you realize how the shaker is crap.

That aftermarket heavy bass get tiring i know... I had a jeep wrangler with 2 10" JLaudio w6s and a JL 1000/1 powering them with all my mids and highs amped and it sound incredible but after hearing the new stock sound systems that come in new cars you really apreciate them.. You really dont need to upgrade. Ive heard my moms benz it has a harmon karson 9 speaker stereo and it blows away a lot of after market setups.... Extremely clear mids and hi's and great amount of bass. Personally i grew out of that faze and i really just enjoy the exhaust.... Now thats music to my ears and i think a few of you will agree

Who said anything about heavy bass? A quality aftermarket system doesn't need heavy bass.

I've got a Shaker 500 and it's okay but there's not quite enough bottom end for my liking... I just installed an amplified Infinity subwoofer and that has greatly helped. I find myself cranking it up louder now, turning the bass down a bit on the head unit and cranking the gain a bit on the sub! Now I'm satisfied...

I tried talking her into a 370z/5.0/SS. But she said same on all. I want something good on gas. The little juke is quick for what it is. Little Turbo inline. I found exhaust, tune and few other things for it.

But for price, having every option, mpg no other car came close even if she went with GM and got her employee discount.

I'm going to add the alpine power box( I think that's the name of it) and some polk audio components to the non shaker system. The apline power box will add 45 watts rms to each channel and is very small so it can fit behind the dash.

Re: Who likes there Shaker 500 ?

I have no complaints about the Shaker 500. Of course, I'm an old woman who hates rap and all that screaming head-banging stuff... I don't like a lot of volume, I do like a full sound that I can sing along with. I get that with the Shaker. No chance of upgrading the stereo here.

I have a had to replace my right side speaker and it's starting to sound like it needs replacing again. I have the shaker 500 system. Overall, the power distribution to each speaker is decent. IMO the front speakers should have been subs. But then again I didn't buy the it for speaker .

Re: Who likes there Shaker 500 ?

I find it to be pretty lacking as someone who knows what good speakers are supposed to sound like. The tweeters and subwoofers are clearly underpowered, and there is no HPF on the mids which makes them sound muddy when you add enough bass adjustment to accurately reproduce the full sound spectrum.

That said, I don't really care. It's turned off most of the time and I would rather Ford spend time making meaningful improvements to the car such as adding a good flappy paddle gearbox and/or a manual transmission that's not made of glass. It's so absurdly cheap/easy to upgrade the stereo to suit your needs that I don't think Ford should worry about it. This is a $30k Mustang, not a $70k BMW/Mercedes/Audi. Not even getting into what a waste of space/weight the amps and heavy speakers are....

AVIC radios are notorious for making any stock speaker on any car sound way better. Almost as if they were different speakers.

I have a Pioneer AVIC X930BT Nav/DVD radio, everything sounds great.

I feel same way really. Bunch buddies want me to add system of some kind for car shows. But that's extra weight when racing. Hell my neighbor owns a custom audio place said they do all work free if I wanted to do a system. I passed.
