Thumbs up My new '13

First post on these forums!

Picked her up yesterday. Black 5.0, .373 rear end, track & brembo pckg. Low options = saves weight and dollars...plus I do not need the $2500 nav system anyways.

Good god, the stares that she gets...and the random from people on the highways and at intersections! Very nearly caused an older fellow in an SUV to run into the back of the person in front of him...too busy rubbernecking out of his window!

Pics very soon.

Re: My new '13

I am waiting on mine Deep Impact Blue, track pkg, premium, boss spoiler, did want the sync and stereo. Nav is not something anyone needs with cheap after mrk items are a smart phone. How well does the torsen 3:73 feel, if you've curved it hard yet?

Re: My new '13

Eh, haven't really had an opportunity to play in some twisties yet (chicago is mostly a giant grid...) but I gotta say...it doesn't much FEEL like a solid rear axle car. Then again, my last experience with one was in an '84 GT.

Waiting for wife to find the camera and I'll get some pics posted.

First impressions:
-sounds good, especially under load. A mite too quiet for me at idle though.
-I do not remember the old 5ltrs revving so freely as this one does. God, the music...
-Speaking of music: Sync is kinda sorta a pain in the ***. Why does it default to line-in when I just set up the bluetooth sync?
-Big difference with traction control turned off.
-Setting the steering wheel to sport mode has a noticeable difference than from 'standard.'

Re: My new '13

Pollen, the demise of all dark colors, my Deep Impact Blue will suffer too. It will be much earlier thought, I' m in Tx. about 2 hours east of Dallas and 20 min. South of Tyler. A lot of FM'S (sorry that means Farm to Market) that are like giant snakes. I'll just have ease to the limits in discovery, are I'll be in the pasture with scared cows. Not to mention barbed wire starches. I also got The Recaros. Your car is a looker I love black, but TX. @ 105F not good-----I know my dark blue will be hot too! Great car. When you do get to run some twists, let me know what you think of the TORSEN, Thanks

What sort of noise? I'm getting nothing unexpected from mine so far. I think it is somewhat common for the T56 to make some noise during break in (a small whine that goes away...coming from a guy who helped build out a few LS1s).

If it is bothering you, I'd take it right back to the dealer and ask him to diagnose and fix it. Should still be under warranty unless you managed to go over 36k already

edit: T56 -> MT82. Unsure if whine is common in these transmissions also.

Its a clunking sound that make me feel that the driveshaft it's lose.
I took it to the service center and they said 3 different technicians test drove it and didn't heard anything. But I'm not crazy the sound is there. I'll have to go back and drive myself with a technician next to me

Will stay stock for a while, I'm afraid. Destined for a good intake and exhaust...maybe a tune, nothing more fancy than that until we're done with the car payment. Long term...depends on what's available and if the coyote is receptive to boost.

I like the stockers that I have. If I go aftermarket, I already have my eyes on a good set of torque thrust IIs (yeah, if you're gonna do it, do it oldschool.)

Re: My new '13

Congrats, looks just like mine. I get so manny stares an compliments, especially with the roush axle backs. I got the mod bug, and since I've bought it I've had a box at my house every week. My tranny makes a little noise but nothing that I can't tolerate, I'll be getting a little Honda cr-v shortly and that will become my daily, after that.. I will be supercharging it. Enjoy it!

Re: My new '13

Wow, she's getting lots of love! Thanks!

She goes back to the dealer today for the paint and anti-rust treatment, and the 1st oil change at 500mi. I have been driving it almost non-stop since pulling it out of the dealer's lot.

Another observation/question: the stock, non shaker audio system is somewhat anemic. Does anyone know if there are RCA outs on the back of the head unit? I'm talking the base head unit, not the one with the screen.

It just so happens I have a really good amp and sub that needs a home, but I dont wanna start digging into it if the stock head unit doesn't have outputs.

I don't know of any factory radios that do.. Have to buy a t-connector that goes between your factory radio and factory wiring harness.. Will have RCA outs and remote (amp turn on) wire..

My dealer told me to go 4,000 miles before the first oil change.

Dealer had an offer to have the paint treated, supposed to resist acid rain, gravel, salt damage, tar, and all of the other common chicago road crap. Tossed it in for free, so how could I say no? They were also willing to do a good anti-rust treatment to the undercarriage...again with the salt n **** we chicago drivers get all winter. They offered additional sound insulation but i opted out...adds weight and I personally like hearing the car interact with the pavement.

Also: my break-in method is drive it hard to get the seals to set, then change that oil at 500, then again at 3k as normal. I think you'd be surprised at the amount of metal present in the oil from that first change. The service desk guy tried to talk me out of it (the dealer said they'd do the first one whenever i wanted) but....i was insistent. I told the manager that I only want synthetic oil used, once i start doing these things myself it'll be Mobil 1 and K&N oilfilters.
