From 07 on I think they're mandatory. They act up more than they help

Not sure when it went into effect but yes it is now mandatory as well as traction control... ALL new cars have tpms and trac control

Re: Tpms disable.

What do you mean by "disable" it? I just had a local speed shop install "normal" valve stems and TMPS won't work (but you will have a dash light). I think the system is more hassle than it's worth to be honest, and the TPMS sensors are prone to failure and leakage after relatively short periods of time.

Thank the nanny state for this one, it's a federal mandate that all cars have them, and shops aren't supposed to install normal valvestems on any car that came with them so you might have to shop around. All because the people are too goddamn stupid to check their tire pressure once a month.

You could probably pull the light if you wanted to take your dash apart. Ford wouldn't disable it (unlikely they can anyways) since that's against the law.

Re: Tpms disable.

I dont use TPMS either but I just leave light on.Don't bother me.As for turning it off via tune-NO. I don't think you will find a tuner able or willing with the laws.
Just a side note.....Light on has no effect on passing inspection.

Re: Tpms disable.

Been leafing the owners manual and it doesn't look like TPMS has a unique fuse either. I just deal with the light ... not taking the dash apart just to get it to go off.

Re: Tpms disable.

friend purchased some old wheels from me and they didnt have it, its annoying to some not to others.... I wish the tune could turn it off, but I do understand it not being an option outside of something custom to fix it~
