Smell/noise??

Just got my new borla exhaust s type catback put on. Today I hear a noise and a kinda burning smell. I only have 500 miles on it. I didn't notice on the way home from the shop. Today was the second time I've drivin it since its been installed. I haven't drive hard and I looked underneath and nothing seems to be out of place. Anyone know what it is??

It's just the coating on the exhaust burning off. It will be gone after a few heat-cooling cycles. What kind of noise?

I'm not sure how to explain it. It's not metal. Almost like a creaking but not annoying. It's not that loud I can't hear it at high speeds and it doesn't do it when at idle. I have to listen to it again tomorrow and so I can better expain

Well I have the s type catback and there is no "noise" just a different sound, and that comes with changing the factory exhaust. And especially when adding an x pipe.

U might be hearing a rattling with the rear/side panels in the interior... I started hearing that after the I got the Borlas, I think its the rumble of the exhaust

I'm guessing thats what your hearing. I never looked too deep into it, at the time I got the Borlas my car was brand new and didn't wanna start ripping my interior apart yet.... over time I got used to it, its not that bad, I know I don't have any physically rubbing or any problems with the exhaust... I think its just the rumble of it that makes the interior rattle a bit

Well to add it starts after she's warm and then dosent do at idle but does it starting out in first gear it's not a panel it's something underneath. So I'm taking it to the muffler shop tomorrow before work.

If there is an exhaust leak you will see black dust by the clamps

The clamps I could see by rear I didn't see black but I couldn't see the front cause I don't have a lift.

Sounds like you have a "ghost" in your car. That's what I call it. Every time I modify something on my vehicle I always think I hear something new after the install. Usually it's nothing.

Well it actually ended up being the hanger on the left tail pipe. It's fixed now.
