I've always had base mustangs until now. This is my first premium. To me premium adds some luxury and kinda makes the car both sporty and touring.

Re: Base vs premium

Not all Premuim pkg's have 19" wheels and the brace under the hood, I see more 10-12 Prem models on the road with 18" wheels now also I see a lot of 13's with 18" wheels to.

The strut tower brace is part of the brembo package I believe. My car has the brace. I have brembos.

All of what was said on this thread is true, I find that the little to larger things that come with the Premium pkg are well worth the cost and make a world of difference to me. But also there are many pkg's that are Options that you can get also, so many times cars are not Identical. Let me give you a slight example: Mine is a 07 so there are differences with yours. Mine came with the Shaker500 stereo, not the Shaker1000, difference in features, but not that much of a need, I don't believe the Base model even comes with the Shaker500. Mine also came with 3.31 Rear Gears, I've heard many people claim theirs came with different rear numbers. And as pointed out, Leather Int. is standard on Premium models.

I think a premium with the track package will be great. It comes with boss 302 features such as 3.73 gears and cooling systems.

---------- Post added at 08:10 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:09 AM ----------

The car I built online was a little over 41,000 with do you think I could get it for?

---------- Post added at 08:11 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:10 AM ----------

Is there a military discount?

You can give that Military Discount a shot, but it's a 50/50 shot on if it is or not and how much. If there is Be glad, if not, then oh'well life goes on. I changed my Gears from 3.31 to 4.10, but if my car had come with 3.73s, I would have left it alone.

I ordered mine to be cheap as possible so I actually made below base no sync or anything with 331s. But I already knew I was going to supercharge it so I didn't want to spend money on wheels that I'm going to take off I wanted the 331 gears. I'm changing the stock radio out so I saved two hundred from not getting sync. I only owe 9 left on it when she is paid off I will spend the money I saved for the trams and engine build that I want. I think it all depends on what you want out of the car and how much you willing to pay

You should try going to dealer and tell them what you want in your stang, and an estimate price, just go look at at base and premium models , and whatever feels right is your answer

Re: Base vs premium

Mine is a base, I did not see the need to pay for the premium things when it was just...stuff...that I didn't really need. I have the brembos, track pkg, and .373. I consider it a detuned budget boss 302, and the mechanical difference will disappear when I install this CAI and get a tune.

It is precisely the car I wanted, and I paid roughly 32k for it. Adding the leather, shaker, lighting stuff, heated & power seats did not interest me...then again, I did not buy the car to be a nice car, I bought it to be a fast car that I intend to tweak and build over time.

In general terms, extra options add weight along with cost, and I did not want that and couldn't justify the extra 4-8k in price.

All of this said, consider why you want a new 5.0 before letting a dealer try to sell you the most expensive one he has on his lot.

I totally agreed bro. I'm 35 and wanted sometime fast and nice so I got premium but had I been younger or this was my weekend car I would have gotten it base.

Re: Base vs premium

I saw plenty of the premiums locally when I went out looking for a 2012 gt. But I just wanted a new 5.0 and was just looking for a base car. The dealer found one in the next town and it was a base race red with 6sp.

I am very happy with everything it has and giving thought about what I want to add to it but have not even made my first payment yet.

No base crap in Canada. A base model here is your premium.

Extra options add weight? Let's race and I guarantee there will be no difference in our times...unless you can't drive I course. And I will be talking on a phone call through my sync with my heated seats on lol

Lets race...I will rape you. In my premium. And yes there is a difference. Fastest stock 5.0's have been base cars auto and manual.

I paid 28k for mine in June of 2010. It's a base but with 3.73's the dealer added that option to all there base model GT's. 30k was a rounded number for 2011gt85 who thinks a base model GT is crap.

Personally, I bought the base GT because it was the fastest most comfortable car that I could afford. I don't give a rats *** about sync, leather, power seats etc.

My 2011 F150 Screw has all that stuff and I don't even use it. My kids mom says the sync doesn't even work half the time.

That's a pretty sweet deal. I was pretty happy with mine. Those first few months were awesome. Nobody had the new 5.0 in Corpus yet and I traded in my truck and got 8k back for it so I dropped that on the mustang. I can't wait till its paid in full.
