Realistic gain with a tuner???

So I've been bouncing back and forth on whether or not to get a tuner and CAI for my '10 gt. I've read mixed reviews. About 50% say there's no "seat of the pants" difference the other 50% says its the best mod beside gears that they've done. But I already have factory 3.73s. So my question is, is it worth the $600-700 price tag? Will I feel a difference? What are REALISTIC gains? I know the ads say 30+ hp but I know sometimes ads are misleading.

And ive already got a borla axleback

You 5.0 guys really see 60hp on a tune?! If so that's nuts and I need to upgrade! Is that just with tune alone or combined with something?

Maybe 60hp at the motor but not to the wheels. It just depends on how aggressive the tune is. I would say 20-maybe 30 to the wheels isn't unheard of.

You will definitely feel a difference! My 06 GT was a totally different car afterwards. Went from running 13.6s to 13.1s and 13.2s. I picked up 24 RWHP and 31 RWTQ. I would personally recommend a custom tune vs mail order. Some folks have good luck with mail orders though. A tuner CAI combo from American Muscle will run around $700. Probably your best bet. A custom tune with before and after dyno pull should run $250 on the low end and $350 on the end. So you would be in for about a grand.

Should also add my car was an auto. The tune recalibrated my shift points and with the 4:10 gear it would spin through second and bark third! Not sure if you would see the same gains in a manual car?

I have a 2010 GT as well and am not trying to make it the fastest thing but just a little quicker. I am getting SLP Loud Mouths next week and probably a CAI and tune the next week. I have no idea what the real gains will b but I think I'll be happy with anything because I'm already having fun with it pretty much stock.

I've been debating on what to do with mine I think the first thing I want to get is gears since I have 3.31's then aluminum drive shaft. After that who knows probly a s/c. But to the op good luck with what ever route you take and have fun

I'd say 60hp is definitely a bit far fetched, but seeing ~30rwhp wouldn't be unheard of. When I put the tune on my car it was night and day. Mine is a canned tuned, so I would say getting a custom tune for your car would yield highs gains. All in all, great mod, IMHO.

With a steeda cai and an offload x pipe and tune you might get 50 at the crank, 60 would probably take headers

A CAI and tune is worth the money, horse power is expensive, those are just the starter mods. I paid $860 for my CAI and tune installed, that made a pretty good difference in power, my throttle acts far different than stock and requires some fancy foot work but that's ok it just adds to the driving experience.

Id rather be able to spell exaggerations then be a lil far fetched on a hp gain. 60 hp isnt impossible depending on other possible mods. It is impossible on a 4.6 though.
