I want to buy an SCT tuner with Bama tunes but am concerned what happens if the previous owner already had a tune loaded? Not sure they did but from reading about the C&L tune it looks like they say a tune is necessary with their intake so I am thinking there is a tune there. If I go to dealer to have them flash me back to stock what kind of cost would i be looking at?. I really don't want to have them flash it if there is any other way to overwrite a tune if one is there already (I think the issue will be that there is no stock tune to download when you first start the flash process. Any help?
This is an on going debate, I will try & touch base with you as best as I can.
If the car does not have a tune, then your SCT will save the stock file & download your tune. Very simple process.
If the tune on your car(that we are not sure what it is) is from an SCT device, when you go to download your new tune, It will SAVE that file as your STOCK tune.
If the tune is from a different brand device(diablosport ect....), the device will mistake that diablo file for the stock file, save it as stock & then download your tune.(same process as with SCT)
^In that case, since you wont have a copy of your stock tune, the dealership can always flash it back to stock for you. I would recommend telling them you bought your mustang used and want it to be 100% stock and you think it has a tune.
