What to do before going forced induction

So I'm gonna blow my 4.6 within the next 8-9 months assuming I dont get shipped to BUDS before then. I was gonna go with a lower hp kit like the m90 but I've decided to just get what I want the first time so I think I'm gonna go with the whipple 550 hp kit bbbuuttt the downfall is that my 4.6 won't hold the power. What do I need to get rebuilt so that my car can handle that much power?

I've heard 450 is safe for a daily driver on a 4.6.

I believe you can go a little over that, But the biggest concern you should have is the Boost, stock Internals you do not want to go over 10% Boost at all. Hopefully some other people can chime in on this. Not so much as the 550HP Whipple, but rather how you have the Boost set. Lower boost numbers are better or rather safer.

A friend of mine safely made 420hp @ the wheels for years in his 4.6 without problems. You font want to push them much further then that. Then he got a DSS built block and now makes over 600hp @ the wheels with his vortech kit.

What are the differences between the blocks in the 05-09 and the 10 4.6?

To my knowledge, nothing. I could be wrong.

I know there is more power in the 10's, not sure if there is any mechanical difference or not

Re: What to do before going forced induction

450whp is where you are gonna wanna stay with a 05-10 4.6,there are people who have ran them to 500whp safely with no issues. It's all about the tune and the way you drive the car. If it's gonna be a track car and you want 500whp then you need to dig into her guts and make sure you make the proper adjustments. If it's a DD then I would stick with the safe 450whp,that will be plenty of power on the street and fun as hell. Me personally,I wouldn't go over 450 for piece of mind.

Forged internals and you will be good. What do you plan on using the car for?

Running the track on some weekends and driving it a few days a week. I have a small Nissan truck I drive to work, friends houses and college when I start in August. Then I'm getting sent to BUDS sometime next year for seal training which will take 7-8 months so I'll probably get my dad to drive it every so often while I'm gone. So basically a town cruiser and a track car lol
