Exhaust pipes smoking

I have a 2012 GT and was driving it pretty hard today. I tapped the redline a few times, but nothing crazy. The car has just over 1,300 miles on it.....just got it last month. Anyway, when I pulled into my driveway I could smell a strange odor. I then noticed smoke comming out of the exhaust pipes when the engine was off. Does anybody know what is causing this to happen? Am I burning oil? Is this something I should be concerned about?

Its the catalytic converter. Nothing wrong. I went to the dealer with the same thing and he said it was normal. Even at 10k smelling it should be normal. Most of us that just got a new car begin to have these symptoms thinking theres always something wrong with the car. Everything is normal until you look at the forums and read someone else problems haha. I annoyed the hell outta the dealership cause I thought I had a tranny problem and a strange smell.

Re: Exhaust pipes smoking

I agree with Merben. Sometimes, after some spirited driving, I can smell foul exhaust. It's the cats getting broken in though (1,600miles here).

If you start to see a LOT of smoke, get it looked at.

You can't smell cats at wot anyways. The exhaust gases travel behind you, not until you stop can you smell them, unless you have an exhaust leak and the exhaust leaks into the cabin instead of traveling out the tail pipes.

11,000 miles on 2012, never have had the exhaust smoke. The only thing to smoke was my trans after ford telling they were not going to fix it. Still waiting on my magnum xl should be here soon. So glad to get rid of the mt82.

Hitting redline is how you guys break one in, interesting.
Have I smelled cats before? Lol. I didn't answer bc unless it's excessive smoke and often... No need to worry
For lack of a better word...these motors flex a lot compared to others in the past. Hitting redline before its broke in isn't wise.

So what exactly are you saying is flexing a lot? And it's not gonna hurt the engine shifting at near redline here and there when it's new. Sure it's harder on it than shifting at 3 grand but that's just common sense.
