Best Tune for MPG + power gains.

Hey Mustang brothers! I was curious--I want to get an AirRaid CAI and tune for extra bump in power/performance. However I don't want to sacrifice MPG. I know it's a muscle car, but the more I save on gas, the more I have to tame the mod bug But I've heard some tunes also remove Variable Timing? Correct? I would love a recommendations from you guys that would give me same MPG (if not better) and power gains! Appreciate it!

Re: Best Tune for MPG + power gains.

most tunes will actually help to make your car more efficient because having the additional power requires less work from your engine to perform the same. with all of my mods my MPG's keep going up (boss IM, offroad x and 91 tune)

as far as removing the variable timing, I'm pretty sure that the only tuner that does not is Lund, or at least that's what I've read. someone please correct me if i'm wrong

Just ordered a 2013 GT. I keep reading about getting the car "tuned". Can someone explain what that involves? I really don't know. Just a basic explanation would help.

Re: Best Tune for MPG + power gains.

I picked up 3-4 mpg using the Procal tune from FMS. It's not a big power tune but it makes the car feel fantastic. I've had no issues of any kind with it and, it's served by a warranty for the duration of your 3/36.

A tuner is used to recalibrate various parameters in the vehicles computer to draw out more power. Most any performance mods will require tuning to maximize power and many times vehicle may not run right if you do not retune

Re: Best Tune for MPG + power gains.

Keep in mind tunes will put your factory warranty in jeopardy, should anything go wrong down the road with the engine.

That said, the factory tune sucks *** on this car. No low end grunt, throttle lag, ****ty mileage.
