'11-13 Mustang GT Brembo, '12-'13 Mustang BOSS & Laguna, '13 Mustang Shelby GT500, '11-'13 Mustang V6, and the only Camaro that makes my list is the great performer ZL1.

The only thing that bothers me is how far behind chevy is... i mean the new zl1 is only a ohv 2 valve where the new mustang is a dohc 4 valve

Yeah, but it still beat the snot out of the gt500 in every test except the quarter mile... (which is not what either of those two cars were really designed for)

Lol. Which biased magazine test are you reading? Gt500 is by far the better platform

Not true. Zl1 heat soaks VERY quickly; after a REAL road course test was done...gt500 proved the victor. I saw shelby run against a zl1 at moroso a few weeks back. Zl1 over hyped...

"If its not broke, don't fix it," LSx platform is proven all around from mild to wild; why change?
2015, the C7 is getting less displacement, lighter chassis on the Z while keeping about the same power-rumor is small increase.

Pretty much all of them (many of which rated the 2010 Mustang over the 2010 Camaro, but I suppose they weren't biased then). I haven't heard much about the zl1 heat soaking, do you have some links for me to read up on where this caused it to underperform compared to the GT500? I'd also be hesitant to say the GT500 is a better all around platform. The engine is light years ahead of the outdated LS, but the rear end and suspension in the GT500 are stone-age primitive compared to the equipment on the ZL1.

Don't get me wrong, I'd still buy the GT500 if I was in the market for that kind of car. Just saying, I can't really bash a car that has (from everything I have read) consistently outperformed its primary competitor despite having less power (just like the 2010 stang did).

I have read a few tests where the Shelby actually did outperform the ZL1 on the road courses, but only for the first few laps!.. After that it suffers from sever brake fade!.. I only heard of one incident were the ZL1 suffered from heat soak and lost ground!..

What about the real life reviews? Haven't read a single encounter where the zl1 was even close

As far as looks...the mustang is unique and has a significant history...where the camaro keeps coming back and imo it gets worse and worse every time. On another note, when the shelby finally gets irs, it will be no competition. The shelby's 5.8 liter is better in every way, the shelby has a better power to weight ratio and better control without the fancy extra crap they keep adding to the camaro and will probably continue to add. To me, the shelby is raw, real, and exactly what an american supercar should be.

I don't know anyone that owns either car, and even if I did, its likely they will be more biased than the magazines. If I drop $60k on a car, I'm going to tell myself and everyone I talk to that it's way better than the path $60k car I didn't get. Just saying...

I think the camaros have to be decked out for me to really like their exterior look. And I'm pretty sure I see 1090978484840307383x more new camaros than mustangs. I'm also in hick town Illinois so everyone loves their Chevys lol

Personally I'll take the review from a professional driver who has tested both cars!.. And let the track times speak for them selves!..

Personally though I'll take the GT500 over the ZL1 any day!.. The all around looks, performance, and heritage of the Shelby just can't be beat!.. There is just more heart and soul in that car than any Chevy out there!..

See the below link. ZL1 wins based on nothing other than feeling. Street, stand had better turn in, better feel and more responsive... But they liked the feel of the camaro... Look at the track! The mustang won, period (it's like golf, the lower the number the better)! Yet they still give it to the camaro. It generates more 'confidence'.

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...0/viewall.html

I'll take the mustang all day long. The numbers don't lie, those that quote 'the pros' and the 'comparison races'..... Well, you know

Personally I like the way the new Camaro looks just slightly more than the new 5.0 (only on the outside though)!!... the new GT/CS though looks ten times better than the new SS!.. And best all around bang for your buck goes to the new 5.0 hands down!..
Woooo the SS has a hood slot! The v8 GT has many packages. I mean like the base and premium(same look basically), boss, gt/cs, and of you want to push it, Shelby and roush.

The Shelby and camaro do similar things in different ways. The shelby is the good old American way of its not fast enough so let's add some more power. The zl1 is showing the more technical side of America. They are both incredible cars and they are close enough so that a Chevy guy is going to buy the camaro and a ford guy is going to buy the Shelby. I personally don't have a brand preference. I would buy the Shelby because it is cooler, you can say it is a supercharged v8 and does things the old fashioned way and it works. The camaro you would have to explain all the technical aspects that make it work and no one wants to hear that. I prefer the shelby, but would be proud to own either.

Zl1: old tech motor, but good one in superior chassis although heavy
GT500: superior motor in old tech suspension that's been revised from prior years. IMO betters styling/lines
Both blast to drive=great garage talk

Re: Mustang GT vs Camaro, The Look!

Both are great cars:
Handling-ZL1
Power- Shelby GT500
All depends on what you want. If I had to chose one, I will chose the ZL1 is more balanced and with enough power.
