SCT iTSX Wireless Tuner

Saw this on AM. At some point I will need a tuner, anyone use this and whats it like compared to the regular tuners? Is it worth it, because it looks sick.

I agree! I saw the same thing and I would love to get my hands on it. I'm interested in what everyone has to say.

If you want a tuner get a hand held IMO. I just don't trust apple or android for tuning a vehicle.

Re: SCT iTSX Wireless Tuner

I doubt it's any worse than the handheld tuners ... they're pretty unreliable.

Re: SCT iTSX Wireless Tuner

I mean the AM guy Justin in the video did his HP and 0-60 using is tablet. Is that a legitimate feature. If it is (even if it is off slightly) it seems worth the money. Dont you think?

It would be as accurate as your speedometer.

Yeah just about everyone on here that has the Sct tuner has prolly had their car locked down at least once. When I upload the new firmware from Sct I talked with one of the guys and he said that was supposed to be fixed. FYI it takes A really freaking long time to update the handhelds. It took me 2hrs and 40min that's with a high speed connection.

Yup. Mine freezes every time and I have to pull the plug, then it takes about an hour and a half to reload the OS. Freaking pile of crap!

Lol apple/android aren't tuning it... They're just uploading the tune, it's just using the phone as a hard drive in a ridiculously overpriced manner

You can download the app & run it in demo mode. I played with it a bit on my tablet after they released the Android version. It looks promising.

I almost bought this before settling on the typical SF3/X3 tuner. What stopped me was you use Bluetooth to communicate with the module plugged into your ODB2 port. If the comm has a brain fart - Kablammo!, now your PCM has a jumbled up tune. Decided to keep the umbilical cord connected to my method of tuneage transfer.

I bought one earlier this year. I still don't think you can use it on a 2012 GT 5.0. They keep saying watch for an update. Right.... Anyway, I got a handheld SCT with my Edelbrock S/C so I gave the Bluetooth job to a friend with a 2006 V6 and it works for him. Nice idea, just not ready for prime time. At any rate, the SCT guys are good guys.

Do you think it would work for the 2010 though? I mean the 05-09 are more alike than the 11+

Probably, sounds like they don't have the new Copperhead ECU figured out yet. I would ask around in the 05-09 GT forums since there are a lot more experts on the 4.6 3V and accompanying hardware in there.

That's a good point. Using the BT OBD dongle with Torque is one thing--it's just reading data. When the time comes, I'll probably stick with the hardwired option myself (it's cheaper, too).

Re: SCT iTSX Wireless Tuner

Sorry for bringing this thread back up. But been reading about this itsx and i like the extra features. Anyone have any more experience with them? Is it worth the extra 90 bucks? I use my galaxy 10.1 on my car with a mount. Monitoring and datalogging from the tab itself is pretty neat. The only thing that worries me is the bluetooth effing up and leaving me a brick lol.
Any input

Re: SCT iTSX Wireless Tuner

Losing the bluetooth or wireless connection would be my main concern. They do look cool though. I like the Diablosport inTune that I just got, it looks similar.

Be aware, the itsx only works with iPod/iPad/iPhone. It won't get discovered on a Galaxy and doesn't work with Torque.

Re: SCT iTSX Wireless Tuner

Man I would not use nothing wireless to tune my car!!!!!! NOTHING!! As for all the extra features I would be open minded depending what all it's capable of.But tuning??? hardwired and only!! You can datalog with LIVELINK and a decent laptop for nothing. Now to get it to even find device is up to the quality of the laptop or firewall issue or some type of block. It has to be at least a dual processor.Don,t even bother dragging some old *** laptop thats slow as hell. The datalog is being done in real time.Another issue I run into when I go out to datalog is it always wants to not config some of the important PID's. I have had isssue after issue.once it got it all recorded, but one.If you do any, dont just select what you want.Get with somebody on exactly what PID's they are wanting. If you lucky you get them all.Guess it's not meant for me to.

Re: SCT iTSX Wireless Tuner

Thanks Apex Predator, I stand corrected!

Funny, part number is the same as the Apple only device. The one I bought back in January is only discoverable on Apple. My Samsung Galaxy S II won't see it. My laptop won't see it. With the same part number, that's gonna add confusion. Anyway they still list it as up to 2011 vehicles.

SCT iTSX/TSX

Update: They added support for Android and it has the same part number as the original iTSX. Apple version is still called iTSX, Android version is called TSX.

So you have it? All I have seen on here is people that think it's a bad idea. I want to hear from people that have it and have used it. What they think and suggest. Tired of seeing people complain about something they haven't used or a different product. A lot of us are looking for ideas and advice not to be confused. I quote you because you seem to be on track here. So what's the good word on this product??

LOL ... I feel bad for that guy, but it's pretty much what I would expect from this. They can barely keep their wired tuners working right, I can only imagine how bad they can screw things up using wireless.

Given their track record, I doubt that it's the only one with issues. I'd have a Paxton if I could get dollar for every thread on the internet about an X3/SF3 leaving a car stranded, no reason to think that adding more complex tech would make it more reliable. I'd say it's more likely that nobody on the forums was silly enough to buy one of these in the first place...

LOL it's kinda frying pan or fire between SCT and Diablosport from what I hear. The grass is always greener on the other side, and due to the cost of the devices, most people have only owned one or the other.

Re: SCT iTSX Wireless Tuner

from experience I would say NOT to to buy iTSX maybe like a year from now they might have it figured out. When I called them with my error codes you could tell they are so tired of hearing about it. Mine is brand new and they said to wait for the update.

Does anybody wanna talk about reliable tuners? That, i'm intersted in

Re: SCT iTSX Wireless Tuner

gweze001, I did have the iTSX but couldn't use it when my 5.0 GT was stock. SCT said wait for update. Since then I added an Edelbrock #1588 S/C which came with an SCT tuner and a tune from Edelbrock which required some work to get right. Anyway, I gave the iTSX to a friend who has a 2006 V6. It worked for him. He noticed the tune that SCT provided made some performance improvement and certainly leaves a lot of tuning options that we haven't tweaked. So, yes I had one but it wasn't supported on the 2012 5.0 GT so I gave it to friend.

That is true. He is an American Kenpo 2nd degree black belt instructor that my two kids go to (currently 2nd red belts) and have made invaluable impressions on their young lives. And he loves his Mustang!
