Not to pour salt in the wound, but there was a beautiful DIB '13 vert RS3 at the show on sunday.

I didn't even think about the Audi when I read that.

I'm not really sure if it's just because I'm in the military but I get plenty of waves thumbs ups etc. but mostly only when I'm on base. But for some reason guys who own the newer stangs 11 and above kinda turn their noses up at me. No love for the s197 model I guess....it's weird. I show love to fox bodies and edge all the time.

I knew ... just don't care. It's a pretty safe assumption that someone talking about a RS3 revving at them on a Mustang forum, is talking about the Mustang, not the Audi.

I have a pretty broad knowledge about other cars, and my daily driver is about as far away from a Mustang as it gets. But ... I'm HERE to talk about Mustangs seeing as this is a thread called Mustang Love on a site called Mustang Evolution

Side note ... that thing is ugly as sin. *shudder*

Re: Mustang love

I actually didn't know an RS3 was a Mustang. That's why I googled "RS3".

See for yourself:

rs3 - Google Search

You can probably understand my response completely now. =)

When you see 5,000 Audi cars show up on the page... =)

I know, just giving you a hard time. There should be a TLA (three letter acronym) cheat sheet as a sticky somewhere. I don't know how you could even get it all down pat if you don't know what they are. I would never guess what a RS3, STB, BIM, LCA, UCA, NVH, PHB, and about half a billion other things were without looking them up.

PS - we call it the RS3 because that's what Roush badges the exterior of the car with. If you haven't seen one in person, go find a Roush dealership. They are totally badass. Just leave you checkbook at home

Saw one when I was shopping for my GT. very nice.

Question. If I recall it had a 2.3l supercharger and was priced just around gt500 territory. How does it stack up and if they are close, what's the point? Anyone have numbers on this car?

I asked that to Roush and they don't want to release numbers to compete with GT500. Found a dealer who did a side-by-side. But still no 1/4 or 0-60 times published.

It would be about even with an 11-12 GT500 on the drag strip, RS3 will crush it on the track since it has a much better suspension setup. 13 GT500 will crush it on the drag strip, probably still get whooped on the track though since it's suspension is still mediocre.

Yebbut, the '11+ is still an S197. I guess some just don't realize that. Me, I don't care--it's a Mustang and that's what is important.

Kinda ... the 10+ is technically a different body style and Ford doesn't consider it an S197, but it doesn't have a moniker of its own. The S197 platform is officially 05-09, but most people consider the 11-14 S197s as well.

It's like the SN95 was 94-98, but the 99-04 (new edge) are commonly referred to as SN95s since they don't have a separate designation either.

I try and always wave. I live in Kansas and own a Harley also so I am always waving at something. Nothing to look at in this state other than cars and bikes I guess.

Here in Metro Detroit I would pretty much be waving non-stop! Last night I counted 6 Mustang GTs at the intersection of Oakwood Boulevard and Rotunda Drive.

I get thumbs ups and waves from other Mustang owners from time to time. A couple weeks ago, a dude in an F150 gave me the peace sign. lol

I've had a few people drastically change their attitude after hearing a good rev. These car sound mean as hell with the right exhaust mods.

Yeah you wouldn't believe it but I got word from my roommate that one of our neighbors talked to him today that my starting my car at 530 in the morning wakes her up and it's just the initial start up that wakes her up so tomorrow I will try not to kill myself with carbon monoxide and start it up with the garage door shut
