I've used RP to0, but I happened to put Mobil 1 in for my first oil change this time. Also used my trusty Wix filter as well.

If you want no arguments for warranty just get it done at the dealer, it's less expensive at least it has been for me. Granted my vin is red flagged supposedly it's still cheaper, with the newer 5.0 being an eight quart oil system.

+1. I'm a Mobile 1 believer but sticking with what is recommended by dealer during my warrantee period. After that, I'm back to Mobile 1.

Motorcraft IS ford. It's recommended simply because Ford can put that in writing an scare most people into buying it.

I would like to see the details on any case where warranty work was declined based on using RP or Amsoil. These are, at least, comparable and likely superior.

Just a side note here, Chevy recommends Mobile 1 in their 6.2. Even has it on the oil cap.

They can't mess with your warranty provided whatever oil you use meets the required certifications / standards and is of the correct weight. That's pretty well established.

True true. The weight is what is probably most important to keep same.

Re: after breakin period best oil for 5.0

I just had my break-in oil change on Friday. Took it to the local Texaco/Express Lube, but they couldn't change it because they had no information on the '13s in their computer. So I took it to the local Ford dealership, even though I don't really like those folks and did not buy my car from them. The guy was very nice.. they didn't have any Mobil1 Synthetic in the weight I needed, so they had to send a guy out to get some.. but they didn't give me any grief about what type of oil to use, nor did they try to scare me with a voided warranty. He was a bit taken aback at the fact that the car only had 1400 miles on it... he said "They don't recommend you bring it in until 7500 miles." I said, yeah I know.. but I want it changed now. They did... cost me $95+ but oh well.. she's my baby and she's worth it.

What does it mean to have your Vin red flagged?

I would love to hear how it goes with your 5.0 on Mobil 1. Please keep us posted!
