Good news for us 5.0 ecu reflashing

Turns out when u tune your cars ecu (flash it) it will have a history of when it was touched (code) but when u return the car back to stock as drive it for 50-100 miles (meaning as in not a 80 mile trip, just constant trips or drives) the code automatically goes away.
Time to mod sum more!!

That's all fine an well and the knowledge has been around for a while, though I do appreciate you informing those that may not know. Only issue is what if you blow the motor or have some issue that makes the vehicle undriveable? won't help much then lol

It's all in the times you turn the ignition key from the on to off position to delete the history from what the mechanic told me
Each time u crank the car it throws a code for it being on but most likely you will be screwed if that happens if the motor blows

Re: Good news for us 5.0 ecu reflashing

It's a little more complicated than that ... Ford Engineering can do a deeper dive into the ECU even if this code isn't present and determine when and how many times the ECU had been reflashed. This is new to the Copperhead ECU used with the Coyote platform, and many dealers do not understand this, since they are not capable of doing this themselves. Usually it happens when they request a replacement engine, and Ford Engineering puts the request on hold and says "send us the ECU first and we'll approve or deny it."

Also, they are really good at keeping archives of public forums and tying forum handles to real identities ... some of the stories I've heard kinda make me wonder (put on your tinfoil hat now) exactly how/who gives them this information.

Check out this TSB from Ford (attached). The following step is of note.

Quote:
Determine if battery was disconnected or if aftermarket calibration was used. If necessary, contact Ford Hotline for assistance.
Here's the next step of the flowchart btw ..

Quote:
Initiate warranty cancellation process

Yeah, I looked up the TSB's for 2011's and it said basically the same thing about aftermarket calibrations voiding warranty.
