We are going to find out cause that is what I got and I'm using my tall ramps I used on my F250. Looks like I can get to it.

3 Ton Jack Stands

Not expensive, and always useful when you have to get under the car.

Also, what is a torque limiter? It sounds like buying something like a 'sex deterrent', not what I want. I have seen a few people mention adding though, so wanted to check.
I changed mine to an MGW shifter using only front ramps. I was able to get back to the end of the tranny where the shifter is just fine.

I've been up on ramps but yeah, had to turn to side. I'll take pics so you can see when I install mine.

Nice. I read several posts that they take a while, which is fine. I wanted to bug them so bad and ask when it would ship, but I kept myself busy with BMR LCA's and relocation brackets lol

I bet! Now all I want is at least drive one. I would agree. If I ever owned one it would be my weekend car.

Finally!!! My MGW shifter comes on Monday! Awesome, however my shift ball order finally made it out of production and ships on the 11th. Can't do much without a ball. Ugh... By the time get the ball car will be in shop. Maybe the following weekend I'll get it installed.

Had the hope of having it on prior to the SC but looks like the SC will be on first. Not complaining.

Re: Short throw shifter

Just got my MGW today. Installed this evening. Used a jack and jack stands. Took me about an hour and half. Love this shifter! I was torn between the Barton and MGW but I tell you.... I am glad I went MGW. Ordered last week and it showed up this evening.

The MGW comes with sound dampening material in the kit for those still sitting on the fence about which one to get.

I ordered mine almost three weeks ago so surprised he got his before me. Oh well, it is almost here. What's a few hundred more miles on a crappy stock shifter going to hurt. I've got another few 10s of thousands of miles to put on after. Still really stoked to be getting it Monday!

I'm thinking of getting an MGW shifter for my '13GT as well; how difficult was the installation? Can it be done by just one person, or does it require two? I watched the how-to videos on the MGW site and it didn't look too bad, but I don't have access to a hoist...and I'm far from a professional mechanic lol

Super simple install. Only required 1 person. A lift makes it easier to get to everything but not necessary. I used my jack and jack stands. It was a tight squeeze but not unmanageable. Didn't take long at all. You should be able to handle installation. If you can install a cold air intake on your car, you should be able to handle this. The newest version doesn't match the installation video. There are a few differences. The bushings are now both halves instead of split and solid. They also stay in the housing, at least mine did. Like I said, super easy. I am by far not a professional either!

Re: Short throw shifter

That's good to hear that it's an easy install. I plan on ordering one this week so that I have it for next spring. My plan is to have a friend of mine from work help me out with it. He's just as picky about doing things right as I am, so we should be able to knock it out in a couple of hours.

Great, that's good to know! I'm really not impressed with the factory shifter, it feels very sloppy. I've been driving stick shift for 20 yrs without any problems, yet I've never had so many missed shifts as I do with this car.

Me too and my C5 felt 1000 times better then this one. A new shifter is next on the list for me.
