2010 with 30k for 26900$

My best friend is looking to buy a 2010 with 30k miles on it. They want 26900. I'm sure he could talk them down some. This is from a carmax dealer. It seems a bit high priced to me. What you guys think. Oh yeah its a red convertible gt with leather interior, sync and all that stuff. I don't know much about them but figured you guys do. Thanx.

Thanx guys. I thought it sounded pretty high. I just wasn't sure because it had all the fancy shizz on it. Is it worth trying to tell him 20-22k even though he probably wojldnt go that low? Or just leave it alone?

He better talk them down a lot, like 5-7k. You can buy a 2013 base gt for that price, and get a better interest rate since its new!

2010s should be MUCH cheaper due to how much better the 2011s are and they can be had for about the same price~ go with a 2011 basically.... you get much more bang for the buck vs 2010.

That's my opinion to. He was actually looking v6. But that car was everything he wanted. Vert, premium leather etc etc. But I'm telling him he's getting ripped.

I was just looking at it. The reason its so high is cause its got navigation, sync, rear camera, seat heaters, etc etc. But I would rather have a 5.0 also.

Thanx for the input everyone.

even the v6 is far superior in 2011 with the 3.7L it also gets MUCH better gas mileage and 305hp. I paid 19k for my 2012 new FYI....

it is a loaded 'vert, guys. All these quotes about how "I got my base coupe for $XXXX..." aren't relevant to a loaded convert purchase. Obviously, you'd still go at the dealer for discounts but, not everybody needs/wants a newer, faster 5.0. the 4.6 is still a nicer tool-around torquer than the new V6.

If it has what you want and the price is flexible, I'd say consider it.

Even if he doesn't care about the engine and buys it he will owe more than its worth and that's a bad place to be.

Yeah but be realistic. The depreciation on that car will be twice what a 2011-13 will be.

Re: 2010 with 30k for 26900$

doesn't really look that way where I am. The 2010 is the high-water mark for the 4.6 and if you can get one, it's the best one to buy. I don't see the big hit on earlier S197s I was expecting from the 5.0 coming out in pricing around here, especially since the 5.0 was about the worst-kept secret in automotive history. No way close to 1/2-off a 5.0 car.

Don't get me wrong. I was never-ever going to buy a Mustang as long as they had that fricking iron-lung 4.6 under the hood. I've hated that engine with a passion since 1996, no matter what they did to it.

It still seemed high to me. And I wouldn't buy it. But my thought was exactly like yours. It is a fully loaded gt vert. And the thing is, its exactly what he was looking for which is even harder. But still seemed high, which is why I was seeking your guys help for my friend.

120 more HP for the same money.
Car Max is always on the high side, they charge for options that are standard equipment.
For instance they wanted extra $ for a 98' Cobra cause it had leather..

i would avoid carmax and the like, very shady when they give out quotes on buying cars and seem to always rip people off

pleased for you but, just wait a year or two.....Mustang's depreciation curve is steeper than the Space Shuttle's ILS approach. You might just stay ahead of it for a while but, these things aren't "investments", they're fun toys and meant to be used as such.

on another point...a GT/CS isn't the same car so, again, it's not apples to apples. This is a convert and pricing is always stupid for those.

When you find something you like, work every angle on that car, rather than imagining some better scenario. I'd be throwing everything at the dealer, including the somewhat spurious argument than the 4.6 is "worth less" now that the 5.0 is out. Whatever it takes, tell your friend to neg as hard as he can and walk if they won't budge.

But 2010s don't depreciate? Lol.. Im at BARE minimum 5-6k ahead.. This car will not depreciate that fast.. you were just saying how they weren't depreciating that much... And that was the 4.6... And it's not my intention for the car to be an investment.. As of right now I have no plans of selling even when it's paid off...

Lol. I'm not looking my buddy is. And he probably won't even end up in a stang. That one was just right for him.He called the guy and he stood his ground on the price. I'm sure after a couple days he may get a call back with a better offer. But if he's playing that tight of hard ball I'm guessing he isn't gonna come down enough.

Oh.. and thanx everyone for there opinions and experiences. It really helped my buddy out.

I went to Carmax and they were like "this is the price live with it". That was one of the reasons we went somewhere else. The cars & trucks they had seemed to be great though.

I got my 05 gt with 11k only 18,700. It was in the books for 22,500. I know the 10 is way newer, but it's still the same engine. I would say the 5.0s are more money. So yes, that is a little expensive. Get them lower !!!

I picked up my 2010 gt premium auto, last August for $26,500 (before taxes)from a dealer list pice was $29,000, it had only 7000 miles and is fully loaded everything (rr camera, trackpack 19in rims) but no nav. If that helps any I think I got a great deal at the time now tho I wouldnt pay the 26 more around 24-1/2

The 2010 is a great car for what it's worth if u can get it for the price u want. I've had mine for a few months. Was premium, fully loaded, track pack, $25k otd. I still see 2010 GTs selling between 23 and 26k before all the fees and taxes.

I totally agree. Before the 5.0 was reborn several car magazines called the 2010 GT the best GT ever made. It doesn't make it crap now that the 5.0 came out. The 5.0 is great and I will buy one in a couple of years but until then I'm enjoying the heck out of what I got as should everyone!

Yeah. I test drove several new V6s and no offense, but it felt like a v6. I needed a V8, even of it was a 4.6 for The torque, the sound and the bang for my bucks when it came to the mods I already knew I wanted. Everyday in my 2010 I get compliments on either it's look or sound and I can count on one hand how many guys asked me if it was a 5.0. I'm more about impressing women and from experience I can tell u they could careless if u have a 5.0 or a 3.7 as long as the car looks nice and is reliable lol.
