2013 Mustang 5.0 Sounds Different

Hey guys,

So I've had my mustang for about four months now. First few months the car's sound was very deep and had rumble to it. It seems to have lost that deep gurgle rumble sound to it. Is this normal?

+1

I resolved that right away with the Roush axle-back.

Is have run flowmaster Hushpower, GT500's, and now roushs. Wouldn't do Hushpower again, GT500's have the best tone by far and decent volume. roush is freakin loud and disgusting (in a good way). Smozilla is running flowmaster American thunder, those sound pretty good too without cats. GTstyles2 is running borla s type but his car still has factory cats, but still sounds pretty good. It's all about taste really. YouTube will give you an idea of how many of these combos sound.

I currently have roush and LOVE them, very loud with no cats and may be too big of a jump from stock exhaust to roush no cats. But roush with cats is awesome

Napoleon85 has some for sale I think

Roush is extremely loud with no cats. It's racecar loud and that's no joke. It WILL piss off your neighbors and get the cops called on you all the time. It sounds delicious though.

Mine are sold already. Took me exactly one day to sell them locally for $300!

Re: 2013 Mustang 5.0 Sounds Different

Agreed on the new exhaust and tune note! But is there any explanation as to why the car doesn't sound the same? Is it possible the car has been "broken in"? I'm just over 4k miles into it now too.

Thanks for all the suggestions by the way.

Exhaust parts do settle/break in. I bet it's mostly the cats starting to accumulate garbage in them and the mufflers settling in. Could also just be that you're "used to it."

Once the exhaust is broken in it will have slightly different qualities and react differently to the energy passing through so it will spun different, if anything it really should be louder, you're probably just getting used to it

I can't be "used to it". Drove a buddy's 13 5.0 the other day. It still has the deep low rumble sound to it. He also has half the amount of miles i have on my stang.

Well we both had another explanation pretty much echoing each other about exhaust settling

Re: 2013 Mustang 5.0 Sounds Different

I was told the sound would change after about 500 miles. Then when I did my muffler delete, the guy said the same thing... "After you drive it about 500 miles or so, it will sound different."

They take loud to a new level with no cats though. I mean, it's cant talk on the phone loud, people think you're trying to race them from stoplights with normal accel and shifting at 2000-2500. It's just flat out ridiculous!

It's still pretty loud. With cats I would say its pretty much perfect, but a smidgen raspy (sorry!). If you think cat deletes are in your future gt500s are a good choice (what I'm switching to).

I've mostly been told with after market that they get louder. Have only experienced Borla twice though.
I have heard reports of the opposite so you may not be imagining it. Enjoy it for a while, you got a sleeper
