How much should i pay????

How much should i pay for a complete twin screw supercharger installed and ready to ride with tune and everything. I want to start saving.
Who has the best supercharger system that has the perfect balance of HP/ reliability??
I was told magna supercharges where among the best, is that true?

I'm planning on a Roush TVS as well. Probably just the 575 kit since I don't have forged internals. Kit runs around 6k and my mechanic quoted about 1200 for labor. Although I may attempt it myself... Would be fun!!

Does the 2013 come with forged internal??

---------- Post added at 08:57 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:56 PM ----------

Does the 1200 in labor include the tuning?

Boss and gt500 come forged.

Labor is for install , Roush includes their tune with purchase. BUT many have complained about how conservative it is.

VMP seems to be the best tuner for the Roush TVS SCs.

I heard that the 2013 has different internal than the 11-12 model.
I was also thinking about doing it myself but i dont have the tools or place to do such a job.

I have obsessed about this kit for a while and for a while had the installation PDF. It really doesn't look that bad, the hardest parts are 1) you have to grind/cut some of the pulley standoffs 2) rewire a plug (which wasn't clean in the manual). But the rest is pretty straight forward. At least I keep telling myself that. Would probably take a weekend.

Also keep in mind that Roush doesn't send you a tuner with a tune on it, you send in your ECU and they mail it back (next day shipping to/from). So you'll loose the car for a few days either before or after you install it.

Slightly different: coated pistons/hood vents and they got rid of our oil squirters.

If you're gonna go serious boost, do your due diligence and spring for some forged internals. Your 5.0 will thank you in the long run.

Is there any particular reason you want roush over a Paxton? I say this because a shop quoted me 7800 for Paxton kit +install and custom tune with clutch and flywheel all installed

If your talking about a full build my guess would be in the 6-10k range but I honestly have no clue. Also with the Paxton sense boost doesn't kick in till over 3k it's less stress on the motor which should equal to longer engine life

Re: How much should i pay????

you want a twin screw, dont waste money on a root blower. If you dont know the difference just google it.

Once you are set on kit you can price all that etc (whipple, kenny bell, procharger, vortech etc). Some of the above would be centri vs positive displacement but what ever

Not sure if you will need a fuel pump, injectors, maf, plugs, etc but you may depending on your power level.

The safe limit is around 450rwhp/tq so you may wish to have a conservative tune of around 400-420 for daily driving and a 450 for when you want to have more fun. You can discuss that with a tuner, get a GOOD TUNE as its VERY VERY important and you need it done on a dyno with a/f checked etc etc along with 'wiggle room' so you have room to grow and be safe (colder days vs hotter days)

install should run 1000-1500 (for basic stuff)

tune should be 300 for tuner and 100-500 for a tune depending~

450 rwhp can be had with essentially a full bolt on 5.0. If you supercharge a 5.0 you are looking at 575-600+ rwhp range. From what the shop told me that is safe for a 5.0

450 hp is just too little for the among of money, i want to get 650 or so, there is a shop in miami called dynamic turbo and they work with viper bmw corvettes etc.. The guy has built 2 gt 5.0 and they are both well over 600 hp and they have put over 20000 miles on it. I met them in a car meet and they havent had any problem since install. That shop does its own tunes and they worked on a bmw i had.

Ya I was going to kurgan Motorsports and they said that all stock mustang with a supercharger will dyno at around 550-575 with the tune from Paxton so with custom tuning and a o/r mid pipe you should be up around 620-650

Do they give you a copy of your tune ..That way if your PCM ever goes out you reprogram your tune??

Just like the choice of mustangs, superchargers come down to what you can afford and what you want to do with it.

For mild boost applications (mostly street on stock internals) any TVS is fine (and cheaper than a twin screw).

Twin screws are defiantly more efficient and offer serious higher boost performance.

But there is a reason TVSs (and centi's) exist and sell.

There is no 1 answer here.

Would you consider the roush blowers mild boost? I guess a better question for me to ask is what would be considered mild boost?

I'm no expert by any means... But from what I understand, depending in the kit (and pulley included), 6-9 psi is considered the low end of boost. "safe" as they say.

I'm sure others can provide their 2 cents as well.

Ok, that's pretty much the range I was thinking of also. Now I will say that I have heard of some roush kits pushing as much as 16 psi

So do you have forged internals or stock? 600 rwhp sounds like I'd blow my engine the way I drive!!!

Can't speak for kystang but many people are running 600rwhp on stock motor WITH A SPOT ON Tune. Some people have even gone over 700 on stock block.

With a spot on tune you can push this motor pretty high... But noone knows how Long yet. All blown motor I have seen from the vehicles so far are from bad tuning not from too much power
